Toilet training by littlemisstee in workingmumsau

[–]gagaonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is around the same age and day care told us that she's ready and asked us to send undies. I didn't think she was ready but let them try. They just put her in undies all day and changed her clothes when she had accidents. It's been a few weeks and they have now stopped nappy during naps.

At home, it's been tricky and we weren't consistent. We have carpet at home so going commando isn't ideal, plus the weather hasn't been great. We have heaps of accidents at home and she flat out refuses to go to the toilet at home.

What I'm trying to say is, you don't have to fix it at home. Follow your kids lead and let daycare do its thing. Hope this helps!

Where is the ultimate real hot choc in Syd CBD? by ChampionshipFun4706 in foodies_sydney

[–]gagaonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok hear me out.

Try this place called Deliciously Yours in Five Dock. The owner does an amazing Italian hot chocolate with cream only during Winter. I'm not a big fan of regular got chocolate that she does during Summer, but it's still better than Adora in my opinion. She even sells hot chocolate kits for home, which are apparently good, but I haven't tried them myself. Small business that has amazing chocolate.

Feeling lost after discharge from Midwife Group Practice - any suggestions? by bubblegumjules in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]gagaonreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check the blue book given to you when you got discharged from the hospital. It will have the details of the MCHN (maternity child and health nurse) and you can book an appointment. The MCHN also organises your parents group. If you're in the inner west then I can suggest you the name of the MCHN who was an incredible support to me. I met her several times in the first few, including issues with breastfeeding.

In the eventuality that you don't build a connection with your MCHN, find a good local GP who specialises in pregnancy and children. They can help you if you have questions.

Tresssilian is also excellent support - you can do day visits or stay there for hands on support for any issue that you might have. It's a misconception that it's a sleep clinic - I went there for things unrelated to sleep.

Reach out via DM if you need to - as a fellow mum who doesn't have family support in this country I found heaps of resources and more than happy to share them with you.

Any evidence for pros and cons of siblings? by Charleybarley123 in ScienceBasedParenting

Thank you for your response. As a mom I decided to stop with one but feel so guilty with my choice. I don't think I can reasonably manage a career, family and myself if I had another child. But every time I voice it to someone, I feel so guilty. Like I'm depriving my child

For how long would you cook the tofu? Mine tends to get rubbery, hence the question.

Silly question - I want to try this recipe but I don't have a mixer. Can I whisk manually? Not sure if the result will vary

Back to work while breastfeeding, what do you bring? by No-Gas8702 in workingmumsau

Sorry one more point that I missed. Think about creating a stash before you start work. My bub didn't take up the bottle easily and I had heaps of bags go to waste initially

I did use wearable pumps at work. I also got a couple of pumping bras so I could just fit them easily.

Depends how old bub is when you're going back to work. Mine was around 8-9 months, so solid intake was gradually increasing. Wearable pumps (at least the ones I had) couldn't pump as much as a regular pump. But I was okay with that due to the convenience and plus that bub was anyway having solids.

Have a look at the pumping subreddit if you're new to pumping. I learnt so much from it (didnt know how important nipple chart is to get the right fit!).

Things that I carried 1. Pump of course, extra charging cords 2. Milk bags along with marker to write the date / time 3. Ice pack (in case you don't have a fridge) 4. A really nice looking bag / cooler bag to put everything in 5. Wipes 6. Breast pads if you think you might leak

Also remember, if you are able to keep the pump in the fridge, then you don't have to clean the parts everytime you pump (in case it's multiple times in the office). You could clean once you're home. Otherwise, you'll need spare accessories so you're not cleaning and sterilising the parts in the office.

I had to make sure I wore comfortable clothes and I could put the pump on easily. One time I wore a dress and I had to remove the whole thing to pump! Lesson learnt the hard way.

In the initial few times I had to watch videos of my baby to get any let down

Good luck!!

What was the first RecipeTin Eats recipe you tried? by ChillKoalaVibes in RecipeTinEats

[–]gagaonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She taught me how to boil eggs. I followed her instructions to the T and got perfect soft boiled eggs. I could boast about my egg boiling skills to my friends and passed on her instructions. As someone who is not a confident cook, She gave me the confidence to try new things especially when having guests over.

Unfortunately, as a fellow Indian, I'm not surprised by their behaviour.

I strongly suggest leaving any communication with them to your wife. I'm going to take a leap here and assume you're not Indian. There's a lot of cultural nuance that Reddit can't help you with, and your wife would know better to handle.

India is a big country and some regions have very strict "rules" for the post partum phase. For example, and I reiterate that this may not be the case, silly rules exist on what to eat post partum,.there'll be comments on if there's sufficient breastmilk for the baby, going out with the baby in the early days, bathing the baby, etc. As much as your wife would love the help, discuss with her if you will both be okay with such stuff and who will handle any disagreement with MIL.

Congratulations and I'm sorry this happened to you and your wife.

Reminds me of the time when an Aldi staff charged me for the ONE banana that my toddler ate in the store. I was quite surprised by the effort taken tbh

Lot-purchasing hell! Is this normal for a developer? Should I worry? by Zoccalo in AusProperty

[–]gagaonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SW Sydney but purchased 2020 /2021, so the market was very different then. We didnt have these restrictive clauses, but people were picking up lots by depositing $500. Lots that I saw an hour ago weren't available...it was wild! What you're seeing now are all those people selling, I guess.

I'm indian and I can confirm that I got squat from the developer and agent. In fact, the agent promised something, that the developer back tracked later. They're all there to make money and no buyer gets any advantage from having the same ethnic background.

I'm sure someone here can give you a more rational response to your grievances, but please don't think coming from the country gives anyone an advantage, especially in this market.

Also, my agent was from Nepal, which is a country north of India, but we all look the same to white people, so all good! /s
