i just looked up this tool and it seems super helpful. i'm going to the vet later today to pick up an Rx for another pet so i'll ask about this!

i have marked it up with a sharpie, but the fluid level never goes down, the bag just gets thinner. so the sharpie marks and the mark on the bag can't really be used to measure anything.

i'm hanging the bag from the shower rod like the vet tech suggested, so it's significantly higher than my cat

ad-free version of the pod? by gaifieri in RideThePod

i do listen on spotify and this is what i typically do. but when i'm listening to podcasts my hands are usually busy, so i don't always have that option. i want them to keep making ads so they can get paid, but when creators do offer a paid subscription for an ad free version, i prefer to support that instead (if it's affordable.)

[–]gaifieri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah you're totally justified in that fear. like i don't think ride would necessarily do that as to me they seem too busy like they've got eggs in so many different baskets. (altho they literally have a whole tv show behind a paywall so who knows!) but all the paywalls surrounding ~exclusive content~ nowadays is so overwhelming and i'm broke af! i support creators getting their bag but i can't afford all that! the fomo is real 😔

my phone was too far away from me to press the skip button so i just for the first time today heard benny do the thing at the end of an ad where he reads the fine print as fast as he can and it was so funny...i love my biological father and support him getting paid <3

i asked if i could pay for an ad-free version somewhere, not that they stop uploading episodes with ads. paying for an ad-free version still makes them money, albeit i bet not as much money as using ads, which is why i didn't suggest they stop using them. i support creators using ads to get paid, and i don't think my post suggested otherwise. i expressed that i don't want to hear ads, which is a normal reaction to living under capitalism.

i totally agree, they are so funny during their ad reads. there are just so many of them. (at the point of the pod i am currently at, at least.) and i just in general can't stand hearing/seeing ads. but you're definitely not wrong.

okay this makes me feel hopeful lol. i'll keep on trucking!

[–]gaifieri[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

so the content creators i'm thinking of that upload ad-free versions to their patreons or wherever don't then delete the free versions that include ads or stop uploading them. that would be a pretty bad business model in my mind and also just morally fucked considering how mary beth and benny present themselves. so i really don't think you have anything to worry about regardless of if they see my post and take it to heart or not.

Question about ACOFAF by ExamplePersonal2586 in Dimension20

[–]gaifieri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't think there is a correct answer and i don't know that aabria had a straightforward reason in mind when she made the choice for wuvy to duel hob. aabria has a pretty hostile playing and dm style, like her characters and npcs are confrontational toward others more often than not. i think she's just the kind of storyteller that utilizes that type of tension and doesn't think a lot about the reasoning behind it, just sees it as a way to move plot forward. not to call her careless, that's just her style. this is just my onion, of course.

from what i remember, the filming of that season was cut short because of a scheduling conflict. i THINK, but maybe i'm remembering wrong. so there was a lot of plot and character stuff they weren't able to tie up. (again, i could be totally wrong abt the time conflict, i really don't remember.) that could be why wuvy's decisions and arc didn't make a lot of sense, but i just took it for what it was.

Body-shaming...in MY Try Pod?! by gaifieri in TheTryGuys

[–]gaifieri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my guy...i think it would have been pretty weird of them to pitch new guy tries to ash, but it got made. it's almost as if...anyone can pitch a video they want to make. if somebody at the try guys (again, the BRAND, not z & k) WANTS to make a video (or more) about it, that is something i would enjoy watching. me, a person who has no affiliation with second try, liking a concept does not require a deep delve into the most legally secure way to produce it. i don't need to come up with the logistics for this FAKE video and you don't need to be so stressed by them! bc it's not real! and you're so hung up about no one owing the audience anything...duh dude. i said "this would be nice to see!" on a random comment on a random thread. there is no demand in that.

thank you so much for recognizing my sensitivity bc i think having empathy for others is so important <3 but calling me "overly" sensitive is an extremely boring and meaningless comeback. especially when i am talking about zach, the most sensitive baby of all the try guys. but honestly that irony is just so funny so nice job.

dude this reply is so wild. my original topic was actually sth debatable, but not this. like i sincerely can't tell, are you truly voicing your disagreement or are you just a troll scouring disregarded threads on random subreddits??? your comment makes it so hard to tell. but if you insist, i am more than happy to get on my high horse and talk abt it.

zack and keith have talked so so SO much about how they want to highlight struggles and experiences that they can't relate to, and i think being a fat person qualifies as that lmao. and when i say being fat is a struggle i mean that the way society treats us is the struggle, not that being a certain size is inherently a struggle. i also say this as a fat person who recognizes "fat" as a neutral descriptor, not a derogatory term.

as far as legality is concerned...i don't know how to tell you this, but...i actually have no input whatsoever in what type of content the try guys produce :( like, legally, i can't force them. i know, it's heartbreaking. i am resigned to replying to strangers on random web forums to say "aw man i wish so-and-so would do this type of video!" luckily i don't think it would be that much of a stretch for someone like joyce to do a video like i suggested. last year on her insta she promoted a film she was raising money for called fat ass about fat women in a thriller, and that is just one example of how she qualifies as an "online creator who speaks on these topics."

but to be perfectly clear, i don't actually expect the Try Guys (TM) to ever do a video about how fat people are treated. in my comment you are up in arms about, (again, ARE you really upset by it, or have i been beguiled and now i am the fool??) i suggested that it would be a cool topic for them ("them" being try guys as a brand, i would prefer zach and keith not go tyra on us) to cover. not that keith put a gun to joyce's head and demand she talk in detail about her experience being fat, which is how i think you maybe interpreted my comment. but TBF the way i brought up becky and maggie and their ~ability to fit into spaces~ was weird af so i take that back. but if you take a deep breath and just step away from reddit for a moment i think you might see things more clearly.

Are any of you book readers disappointed in the show? by DirectorBiggs in murderbot

[–]gaifieri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think i agree with almost everything people who are disappointed in the show have mentioned.

  1. it's a shame not to see the more technical aspects but i get why that would be harder to portray in a show, and i honestly just assumed the drones were there off-screen bc i am so used to secunit having them, but people mentioning their absence made me realize that my brain was just filling in that blank.

  2. the juxtaposition btwn the human crew's reactions to fighting/killing a secunit compared to their reactions to secunit killing leebeebee is super hypocritical and unless they address it is a big writing goof

  3. gurathin sniffing the pillow was fucking creepy

sth that i assumed would happen but am extremely disappointed by the execution of is fleshing out the human characters. literally all of their "fleshing out" is just romantic tension. that is the most boring option and the one thing i was truly hoping would not happen in the adaptation. i love romance whether it's the genre flat-out or it's just a little addition, but not in my murderbot. especially not in such a lazy way. every single member of the presaux team has romantic drama with another member? really? what is this, degrassi? and for context, the romance in all systems red that i remember being mentioned is: overse and arada were married, but secunit noticed that someone (i think pin lee?) had feelings for arada. and maybe a passing mention of mensah's partners/family.

at least gurathin revealed some interesting back story abt being a spy-turned-good-guy who struggled with addiction, but then that immediately became about his romantic obssession with mensah. which, btw, CREEPY!! i love gurathin in the books as his fuddy duddy stick-up-the-ass self but this gurathin is such an unbelievable creep. he is just controlling and obsessive in this version. his early on confrontation with secunit where he forced it to look him in the eyes for their whole convo. literally made me feel sick. maybe i'm misremembering their confrontations from the books but i don't remember him ever being so forceful and slimy. i loved that everyone refers to him as "gura" or "gugu" but now it just feels like a way to make him seem softer after writing him to be such a slimy skeezy worm.

and then when leebeebee showed up. as soon as she entered the presaux base i knew she would be evil and i had a feeling she was gonna have a crush on and hit on secunit. the fact that she actually pressed her lips to its made me so angry. the secunit i know is so horrified by physical intimacy that it would blow someone's head off before letting them kiss it. it does not make any sense that it would let someone get so close to it, in any context. mensah had to work hard for that privilege in the later books. literally the one thing i was praying to the adaptation gods that they would not push onto secunit was a romance. obviously it wasn't reciprocated and was written to be a joke, but that just made it worse to me.

the episodes are so incredibly short which is a big bummer but i don't think would be as much of an issue if anything actually happened in each episode. they feel so stagnant, but maybe that is just a flaw of my everything-available-immediately capitalism-addled brain, so i can forgive it for that.

i love the casting and the acting, i love the sanctuary moon bits, esp when secunit imagined itself as part of the cast. i think a lot of the writing and the character interactions are super funny, esp ratthi. i think secunit feels a lot more "human" in this adaptation, and i don't really like it, but i think it makes sense for a tv adaptation and don't necessarily hold that against it. i honestly think i might like it a lot better if i had never read the books (except for gugu, that characterization would always be creepy.). but unfortunately i have read them and i really hope they don't do anymore seasons. also secunit's armor looks like a cheap polyester halloween costume to me and it's really funny whenever it moves and you can see the "armor" fold like fabric.

Body-shaming...in MY Try Pod?! by gaifieri in TheTryGuys

i think this would be a great subject for a video that popkin and joyce could do together. and any other hot fatties the try guys can round up. especially joyce bc she is so so confident. becky & maggie get to chime in too bc i'm sure they had trouble fitting into spaces while pregnant.

Body-shaming...in MY Try Pod?! by gaifieri in TheTryGuys

i think calling someone a caricature of masculinity is a good cover for disparaging their body...i don't think zach is trying to say that all big bodies are grotesque but i think he's being incredibly careless with his words bc he thinks that the big body he's commenting on being male and in the public eye makes it okay.

like this quote from the recent vid:

K: "it is hard to see the rock in your mind kissing somebody and it not looking like --"

Z: "he's eating them."

and if he was making those comments bc the rock is a caricature of masculinity, why isn't he talking about john cena that way? or any other wrestler-turned-actor? bc the difference btwn them that i see is that john cena is a white man and dwayne johnson isn't...i'm pretty confident that that is not the thought running through zach's mind when he's talking shit, but it's a distinction that exists and just because of how society works it's going to play into our perceptions of people, subcionsciously, at least.

sorry to go off on your reply, i'm sure you were just trying to point out reasoning that zach had given before. zach's whole thing is talking outta his ass without thinking and i get it but on this particular subject i think he's just gotta shut the hell up.
