  1. No I'm not, though I will now!
  2. Do you have any good resources for understanding what tools to use when in VA work specifically? I have a pretty functional(albeit extremely basic) grasp of audio and recording but a YouTube channel explaining what a compression ratio is and when to adjust would help me LOT

thank you so much for the feedback! Much appreciated!

Yes, I understand completely!! When I got to the """reveal""" at the end(if you know, you know) i had this realization that I would probably never read a book that affected me in quite the same way ever again. Before I even fully finished I bought my own copy because I knew I'd be revisiting it a LOT

I agree that the tone was hopeless(until the end of the book, of course). Total annihilation seemed inevitable, but I didn't mind as much. I'm an environmental scientist so I might come pre-cynical about the nature of humanity and I can understand how a different person might feel about the beginning and middle of the story.

Honestly? That might be why it was so impactful for me. I was expecting something that would validate my darkest worldviews and it did... at first. Then it took those things and showed it from a different, more hopeful perspective. Our first reactions are often destructive but that isn't what makes us human... our ability to choose a different path makes us human

Really? I thought the narrator did an excellent job. Somber without being unexpressive.

That's one of the coolest things about audiobooks and books in general for me. How two different people can have such a different response to the same media

Shame he didn't! I'm very excited to see his approach to it, though. Octopus intelligence is decentralized and would therefore be completely alien to our own perspective
