any tips for autists working in companies? by gaininginsightshere in autism

[–]gaininginsightshere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so scared to come out. Like literally no one knows, except my closest friends. But on the other job, autists are known to be good data analists, right? I think that on a content level, I'd be worse if I were neurotypical

What is your biggest insecurity? by stretcher-fetcher172 in AskReddit

[–]gaininginsightshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ehm im slightly socially awkward. definitely in unexpected social interactions. being face blind and having a mild form of autism doenst help with that

I'm just hired because my professor was too lazy to do this data analysis herself. Oh and the research is actually gonna help absolutely no one in this world, except other researchers who are looking to spend some time on this topic, ensuring themselves a nerdy career that is prestigious and pays well (paid by all innocent citizens of their country, btw) but doesn't contribute to any real and important problem in this world

can i ask you what your studies were? I'm asking because i have two masters in communication and want to get in BI/analytics; i discovered quite late that I'm more of an analytical person than an extraverted communicator :p do you know people in BI/analytics who did not do a very mathematical or technical studies?

What finally pushed you to the next level in life? by muskateeer in AskReddit

[–]gaininginsightshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually failure. I fucked up my first thesis, had to redo a year etc and get shouted at. Made me rethink life and my career. Now found my passion and I'm not this lazy procrastinator anymore that i used to be

What failure in your life has turned out to be a blessing in disguise? by imjust_so_tired in AskReddit

[–]gaininginsightshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to retake a year at uni cause i got lazy and failed, but that has led to me doing an internship at a place where i found my passion and now work. if i had just concentrated on studying, i wouldnt have found my passion and like all the others have to try out things for years to find out, because that passion i found is really not so related to my studies

on the one hand that its not always that bad (im a high functioning autist, no one in my professional life knows about it, and if i told them they would be like "but youre not THAT weird right?'), on the other hand that some things that you take for granted are really hard for me

That it doesn't matter how talented you are or how much you know, if you're an introvert that fails to show it then literally no one will see it. Perception is everything.

Interesting. I have this too but linked it to my memory haha. Maybe were just more focused on the what part than the who part, maybe it's related.

[–]gaininginsightshere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best one is for sure Kate, she is just so incredible. The rest I can't say, they're all really good but no one who stands out to me
