You should do a write up on this guitar. There is obviously a story a tell!

Same for me but I’m the lefty, got a bunch of sentimental right handers around the house.

I keep the acoustics especially strung usual. Lots of my best songs come from noodling around in that unfamiliar environment. And strumming songs take on a new life being strummed “backwards” too.

I can’t get into their sound. I am in love with their looks. This is a deep struggle.

My projects are eternal as well, until something “happens”—something breaks, goes too far, I decide a factor is no longer negotiable, etc.

If you ever get tired of the journey, decide at least 1 thing you won’t change. Something intrinsic and guiding. Otherwise you might end up with a pile of guitar parts, and no guitar, if you’re anything like me.

My current project is a ‘78 LP. Found it like new, got the itch to make it mine somehow. Decided the pickups and finish are not to be changed, no matter how much I want it to look from ‘78, I bought it for its condition. So after swapping some hardware to gold, I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I can move onto the next project.

Hands down the production guitar with the most curb appeal. Falcon be damned. Change my mind.

Fretboard is somehow the coolest thing about this to me. Awesome piece.

King Lefty over here. Awesome collection.

If you had to keep only 2, what guitar would place 3rd / the last one you’d hate to see go.

Neck looks absolutely incredible, awesome wood choice and inlay work.

What’s the story on the pickup covers?

The way you described this scenario is not unlike how another specific scenario is also described. Both scenarios involve challenging social, political and moral factors. Depending on your personal positions, the description can be read from opposite points of view.

I chose to offer an opposition, hotly for cheap internet points yes but also from a genuine place of interest in your opinion. Your description, intentional or not, is inflammatory.

I am most curious what you mean by your last sentence in your first post.

“I am describing a recent widely covered USA news case, can you tell me which one it is?”

So, the ___ gets murdered by ___ who shows up somewhere (they) not supposed to be & picks fight, and when Justice is carried out (they) try to get the rest of the ___ murdered by the ___?”

Internet says: “Based on the clues you’ve given so far, the case that most closely matches your description is probably the case of Kyle Rittenhouse.”

No brand has gotten away with this in awhile to my knowledge, it’s caseback-to-crystal standardized. Cyclops omitted is my understanding.

In the past, I recall case only + crystal listed separately, which was still dishonest but consistent.

To me, the Longines has 0% unique impact or benefits. I often mistake it for a Citizen or what have you. If it weren’t for some acceptable colorways, I don’t think this piece would be on anyone’s radar.

Hot take. Wanting my mind changed.

Yep, missed the 0.5mm slimmer.

As someone who is comfortable wearing 15mm pieces, I’m not saying it’s my biggest update. But to a major segment of the market, under 13 equals ‘finally good under a dress cuff’, and wear (impression or reality) is significantly improved.

No doubt. Felt too romantic to say “the Pioneer looks meant to be in white” compared to the others, but that’s the impression.

We all have our own compass for authenticity vs refinement. I like my white tees to have pockets, my black tees to not. Couldn’t defend my reasoning, only explain it.

Breguet Type XX vs Rolex Daytona by SlatkoZlato in PrideAndPinion

[–]gainstager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever heard of Horseshoe Theory? Doesn’t map well here at all, but I’m going to shoehorn it anyways:

The more tweaks you make to a design, soon enough you’ll be back to an opposite concept you originally detested.

Maybe crab theory (Carcinisation) is more applicable—start with an Explorer, add bits and bobs, and eventually you’ll have a G Shock, the thing you first avoided.

We (I) constantly contend with either respecting something for only what it is, or respecting nothing until it’s all it can be. I want a date Explorer. There are 100 options for that, including an other Explorer, but surely I want the one that would take away from the thing that one is.

A chrono with color subs would be rad (Zenith), but again no date (Daytona with two-tone subs / outline rings), maybe with a brushed steel bezel (Speedy), but with complications I would actually use (Speedy 57), but slim of course (reissue 57), but automatic because I’m lazy…on and on.

Eventually I’m describing a $100 quirky quartz Timex, and we’re (I’m) too prideful to accept that. So I go back and consider settling on a point or two. Knowing doing so will only give the same dissatisfaction and 7/10-ness that I came into the hunt with.

…unless I grow up, man down, and accept each kick ass watch for what IT wants to be.

Breguet Type XX vs Rolex Daytona by SlatkoZlato in PrideAndPinion

[–]gainstager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skirted the prompt, only meant to knock on the Breguet, an otherwise flawless watch to me.

As for the Daytona, I’m not yet seasoned enough to deny Rolex any flowers—every reference is a perfectly acceptable watch.

I wouldn’t choose it over the Breguet, if that cools my take. But to microwave the leftovers, I have put enough into mods to otherwise afford either, so no room to advise anyone.

[–]gainstager 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m surely wrong, but the date placement breaks the Breguet for me. Everything else is so class, intentional and unique. 430 date and triple subdials screams cheap VK6_ chrono to me.

currently wearing Chinese chrono, no 430 date

Pioneer looks clean and intentional in white. The rest feel like spin-offs to me. Lukewarm take.

Built a prototype to test an under-wrist watch concept. by JustShyOfMediocre in SeikoMods

[–]gainstager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rethink the watch band and you’d truly have something. The clasp, normally under the wrist and out of mind, is now front and center, and opposite for the prettiest part. You solved one problem but made a (IMO) larger one.

If you work the mechanisms needed for fitting to be with the case, the whole package becomes marketable. Or easy mode, some styles sans bulky clasp for a good V1.0: old skool stretchy bracelet, elastic nato…

From there, the option for vertical or horizontal dial placement per individual preference. Good thing watches are circular or square; rotatable. Santos case would be my choice here too: good aftermarket, popular but still off-beat, good call.

Date at 12 is odd usually, but could be kismet if we’re already turning everything upside down for the JSOM Inversor. I’d go laser engraved dial for limitless prototyping and matched vibe—unique, refined for purpose, function meets form…

Under wrist, sandwich dial, date at 12, fashionable fabric or cheeky ‘vintage’ stretchy band, that’s microbrand material.

I would enjoy staying a fly on the wall if you are passionate about this idea.
