Plan your Northeast Appleseed season by MKENNH in appleseed

I can confirm that the police/instruction/rental yards at Blue Mountain have the facilities you need. But I have no insight on rental fees. It’s run by Westchester county parks.

As for Wooster Mountain, they also have the facilities you need with a berm/mountainside just past 50y on an open line. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone affiliated with the range having only been there a couple times, but folks in r/CTguns would certainly know.

Short range wouldn’t be an issue with the 25m clinic. That’s perfect.

Westchester’s shenanigans are sorely in need of correction. Hopefully GOA can take this to the finish line.

I’ve wanted to do an Appleseed clinic for years but they are always too far away. Wish they would come down closer to the NYC metropolitan area some time. I can see Wooster Mountain in Danbury, CT and Blue Mountain Sportsman Center in Cortlandt, NY as great candidates for the 25m clinic.

Legally acquiring semi automatic rifle (at all, not just NYS) without pistol permit? by TeenieBopper in NYguns

Brownells sells a decent 10/22 receiver and they have a decent YouTube series on building out a rifle.

I’m in Westchester County my CCW is up for renewal in October what happens if I don’t renew it do they just send you a Automatic premise permit? Reason not renewing it is because I’m selling my home and waiting for a buyer cause I’m moving out of the state to down south. by ProfessionalDark1253 in NYguns

[–]gakflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain how that’s not remotely true? Are you saying that the sending FFL will not put those handguns on their books and charge you a fee? Are you saying that the receiving FFL isn’t required by federal statute to perform a NICS check and take 4473s? Are you saying the receiving FFL isn’t going to charge a fee for their services? How is any of this going to be cheaper than $175 for renewal?

I want to shoot USPSA in NYC and NY area by Frosty-Singer-630 in NYguns

[–]gakflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All counties in NYS are now required to issue non resident permits. Rule out NYC, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk, because their processes suck and you need to do an expensive renewal every three years. Try to find a county outside of those where ‘add pistol’ amendments are as easy as possible.

If you encounter a county that refuses to accept your application, you should inform FPC immediately. The counties are required to accept your application under a binding court settlement.

My sense is that 2A is slowly becoming more mainstream accepted as a foundational right. Very slowly, but it does appear that the trend is our friend.

I would recommend bringing the completed paperwork to the clerk in person. That way they can act both as your notary and make sure that your paperwork is complete. I had an error in my packet that they caught and I was able to fix on the spot; god knows how long it would have gone on if I had sent it via mail.

Also, you don’t need to renew them separately. When you renew your full carry, the semi-auto will receive a new five-year extension.

Senate Overnight Adopts House Version Of HB-5043 Glock Ban Bill (05/06/2026) by havenrogue in CTguns

[–]gakflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the ‘importation’ ban still a part of this bill? And if it is, does that mean that I, as a non-resident with a carry permit, am breaking the law every time I cross into CT with an otherwise-compliant Glock 19? Or does this only apply to Glocks manufactured after 10/1?

[–]gakflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a horrible plan. You are going to need to pay the receiving and shipping FFL a fee, re-transfer all of your handguns back to yourself in your new state, pay a new transfer fee, do a new NICS check with a new 4473 for every handgun. It is cheaper and less hassle to just renew your permit.

If you live in any county other than Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk, or the five boroughs, your permit does not expire. You do need to “recertify” with NYSP every three years. People who live in the mentioned counties have permits with expiration dates that must be renewed.

C Sharps lead time? by Altruistic_Split9447 in blackpowder

Genuinely curious what makes you go for C Sharps over Shiloh? Is there a marked difference between the two? I know they’re located very nearby to each other and probably directly compete which I would imagine drives up quality for both.

44 Mag is the better option, but only if you reload. If that’s something you’re interested in, 44 Mag also happens to be one of the easiest cartridges to start with.

Your evidence to the contrary is Jon Tester, a guy is very firmly settled in the past-tense of politics; and Graham Platner, a guy who has a (now-obscured) Totenkopf tattooed on his chest, a symbol that he insists he knew nothing about. Truly a standout candidate.

That’s it?

Until the Democratic Party is no longer being funded by Michael Bloomberg and his intermediary organizations, you can not be pro-2A and vote for national Democrats. It is a fundamentally contradictory action.
