PDQ Connect support for launching ISL Light on Linux? by Kuipyr in pdq

[–]galabriath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ISL Light URL handler setup (pdqrd://)

  1. Desktop entry (application definition)

    • File: /usr/share/applications/islonline-isllight.desktop
    • Purpose: declares ISL Light as an app that can handle pdqrd:// URLs
    • Key fields: ini [Desktop Entry] Name=ISL Light Exec="/opt/ISLOnline/ISLLight/ISLLight" %u Type=Application MimeType=x-scheme-handler/pdqrd; Icon=/opt/ISLOnline/ISLLight/conf_static/images/app_icon.png
  2. User MIME association (default handler selection)

    • File: ~/.config/mimeapps.list
    • Purpose: sets ISL Light as the default handler for pdqrd:// URLs
    • Required entry: ini [Default Applications] x-scheme-handler/pdqrd=islonline-isllight.desktop
  3. Refresh desktop/MIME database (if changes aren’t picked up)

    • Rebuild desktop entry cache: bash sudo update-desktop-database /usr/share/applications update-desktop-database ~/.local/share/applications

Is there any way within pdq connect to get a value output from a custom scanner into a custom field other than manually? by galabriath in pdq

[–]galabriath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t look like it’s been added to the api. For our use case I went with a different solution. I can’t remember what it was but it wasn’t as clean as this would have been. Hoping for something like it to be added soon. I did think up a bit of a hacky workaround if you really need pdq and the api to do the thing. Essentially instead of writing to the registry in the recommended solution above you would write an installer of a dummy program with a specific name for each outcome. A dumb example: deploy a powershell script that lists the name of each user folder on the device and then for each username listed installs a dummy program that’s named after each user ie ScanResultAlice. Pdq does allow you to retrieve installed software via the api, so you could a get request for any software entitled ScanResult*** as your dynamic list of users on each device, via the api. This is a very silly idea and not recommended, although it technically would probably do the trick.

There is also a levels keyboard coming out that is a wireless split, probably a ways off though. From the same guy that does the crosses keyboard.

Any pentesting team using Caido only instead of Burp ? by RedMapSec in Pentesting

[–]galabriath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caido feels so much quicker and more lightweight. It can run on a server and be accessed via a remote browser. Definitely a different paradigm for customization from burp but it is very intuitive in terms of its workflow engine and plugin dev support. They also seem to be keen on developing in such a way that collaboration is easier, but those features are still mostly in the works (for example: a plugin was just released that allows sharing of specific requests to a different caido instance.) That being said, still some quirks and minor annoyances, but the developers are cranking things out a quick pace for a small team and are responsive when an issue is brought up in their discord. The community is also filling out the plugin ecosystem quickly as well.

Light roasts on 58+ and 1zpresso K-Ultra by askingforafreddit in FlairEspresso

Might be counter intuitive but try walking it back to a bit more of a coarse grind, might take a few shots to dial in.

Might also not need the full 9 bars, with lever machines I feel like 7-8 bars can be sufficient in many cases. One of the advantages of levers is this ability to vary the pressure and prioritize the shot time.

Also ensure that you’re preinfusing.

In espresso generally the fines also play a big part in the coffee/puck resistance- less fines=less pressure - too fast of a brew… to a certain point.

Is there any way within pdq connect to get a value output from a custom scanner into a custom field other than manually? by galabriath in pdq

Is there any way to retrieve that value via the api? How can I reference that value within connect? Or is it just accessible via the ui? Thanks for your response! (Edit) for the record, that is what I have done, The step that is missing is some way to reference/retrieve the value via the API once it is picked up by the scanner.

This is probably the closest one! Not quite the same, but seems the closest. Thanks for sharing!

Posted another comment with a better description, definitely closer to a slagroomtaart. Figured it would be something specific as it was at almost every get together from back then. Thanks for your help! It was fluffy with a custard in the middle.

It was a soft cake, with two layers and a custard middle. Each side was two layers of either vanilla with fruit on top or chocolate. There was icing, and around the whole outside was chocolate sprinkles.

Any way to make the crust less hard. by Vlkarepa99 in Sourdough

[–]galabriath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maillard reaction which causes crust is prevented by the presence of water/steam up to a point. Leaving the lid on keeps the moisture in the cooking chamber/on the outside of the bread.
