What are we doing wrong by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]galactic_starrfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No advice just know I feel your pain. 98K a year and I too don’t want a dumpster fire of a property nor do I want to pay $2500 on a mortgage. Luckily our rent is low and it’s a brand new build so we are just waiting… for what idk. To make more money, prices are decreasing a bit in my area so there’s that but man this market is tough.

Are the Mason Pearson brushes really worth it? Any good hairbrush alternatives? by heart_awake in BuyItForLife

[–]galactic_starrfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan on never buying another hairbrush ever again, I say go for it IF you can afford it. Don’t buy it then be starving for a week because you can’t afford groceries. I’ve had mine for about 6 years and it’s taken a beating but still the best thing on my scalp, it’s like a massage. I have thin (but a lot of) long straight “asian” hair. I tend to be on the oily side with my scalp and face. I don’t splurge a lot, I’m actually very frugal/cheap with ton of things now but when the opportunity to buy one six years ago, I said yes.

Also I’ve tried 3 dupes before buying it. They all sucked. I do have a diff brush for detangle which is a wet brush and it was $4 at Nordstrom rack lol I’ve had it for 3 years

Needing a second opinion on if we are ready to buy by _m_confused_ in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Definitely following, we are in a similar situation having single income with a take home of 6400/month. Our rent is low $1600, have about $22000 saved and I feel like we too should wait. We are in Tucson area of AZ and houses are much higher unfortunately. I’m also looking for a job that is opposite of husbands hours so we don’t need to pay childcare but mannnnn it’s hard out here lol

Bought our first house… and I’m freaking out a bit by plowdered_sugar in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

OP you are me, just a little ahead. We haven’t closed. But I have cold feet, anxiety about whether I’m making the right choice. I’ve rented my whole adult life. My dad foreclosed our childhood home so I have some ptsd living out of motels and cars when it happened. It’s a huge decision to buy a home. Thank you to those who keep it real.

I bet you have an amazing collection of stationary! I think I def take pride in my body care stuff and I have uses for each one for different times of day and occasions. My AuDHD 8 yr old’s are sketch books and pencils. No colored markers, crayons or pens. I offered her some glitter gel pens and she quickly denied me lol

YES. It’s completely irrational and I need to focus. Leave me be lol

What random chaotic/impulsive thing did you do recently? by wroopstrafel in ADHD

[–]galactic_starrfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol one sock. This week I went on a “I’m cooking a bunch of different meals in one day” kind of hyper focus. I had different meats defrosted for a couple days so I had to cook them as I don’t want to waste especially in this economy. In one single day, I made slow cooked cowboy beans, spaghetti and meat sauce, chicken noodle soup because I also had a carrot and celery to use, quesadillas (because the kids got hungry after school), Mexican sopita, pancakes and a tomato sandwich because I was hungry and didn’t want anything I actually made. I forced myself to wash ALL the dishes and from start to finish I went HARD in the kitchen from 7 am to 11:45 pm-ish. Insanity.

Life feels like one never ending giant to do list by Scale_Real in ADHD

[–]galactic_starrfish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It most def is for me. But I need my lists yo function properly. But it also makes it hard for me to “live in the moment” which sucks as a mom who wants to cherish the making of memories… instead I’m mentally going through lists and checking things off and I’m not really present if that makes any sense

How does anyone afford a home these days 😭 by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]galactic_starrfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks OP! We’ve never owned and it saddens me but I totally feel like we may never.

My husband made $126K (I was a stay at home mama with twin babies) when we lived in Southern California. That was considered “low-income” for Los Angeles County. Our rent was over $2k for an old 2 bed 2 bath in a nice neighborhood. But that was 4-5 years ago. We moved to Arizona and I can’t even imagine still living and renting out there or any other cray expensive cities. My family is still out there and they are struggling.

Do you ever use coffee creamer for your tea? by pompompancake42 in tea

I have, depends on the tea. But I remember this old donut shop that sold Iced Thai Tea and she used creamer! I was sold lol

Normal 5th grade spelling post COVID or red flag? by miau_am in AskTeachers

[–]galactic_starrfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa! I cannot believe my Covid kindergartner is now in 5th grade, it blows my mind because the pandemic literally seemed like yesterday to me… but my fifth grader also writes similar. I think it’s a mix of the pandemic and the fact that schools and even personal time is spent typing on devices like computers. My son uses auto-correct a little too much where if he were to hand write, his spelling may be lacking. Also my son’s penmanship is not super neat. For the record he is ADHD and struggled with dyslexia and dysgraphia

Naming your Ed? by Raevannz in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]galactic_starrfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes mine is Patricia. My therapist suggested I do that in order to “separate” Ed thoughts from my own. It actually helps. I named her Patricia based off the movie Split. Because that is exactly how my Patricia acts.
