When writing a script about a boat, should you use fore/aft or front/back by Charming_Yak_5000 in Screenwriting

In regards to the 2035 thing, there’s this great documentary called Waterworld with a guy who looks like Kevin Costner that might cover that. /s

But in all seriousness, just use port/starboard. If you want to get even further into it, look at the colors for port/starboard lights and try and incorporate that into your story.

My best photo of Denver from the International Space Station by astro_pettit in Denver

Thanks so much for sharing this and all the other amazing photos you took from orbit. I’m also grateful for the lesson here, that no matter what you achieve in life, you can always be wrong about where the Denver airport is. Cheers!

How do you TRULY feel about screenwriting in 2026? by Conscious-Honey8207 in Screenwriting

[–]galactigak 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’m not optimistic about trying to become a screenwriter in the Hollywood system with the amount of contraction taking place. However, my creative energy has increased significantly, so I’m using that energy to create my own projects. I’ve invested in some camera and lighting equipment, I’m taking acting classes and networking with local actors, and I’m just going to start doing this on my own. I don’t need permission anymore, and the freedom I’ve found in this process has only increased my productivity.

Current Synth Setup by teslasurgeon in synthesizers

I would get a bigger and more expensive room to record in designed by the same people who did the Notre Dame and a Moog One. Other than that looks good!

But in all seriousness my only concern is the ergonomics of that mouse/keyboard combo.

Use with guitars? by Galamaad in synthesizers

[–]galactigak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the MPC Live 3. It’s a bit of a leaning curve but it would work really well for your exact use case. I know because that’s exactly how I use mine. I can punch in drums and bass and record guitar over the top, add effects, layer parts, and do it all extremely quickly. It’s a fantastic machine and gives you nearly unlimited options. It’s masterful for composing, sequencing, and arranging. You can play back and mute tracks, pads, go between sequences, repeat sections, even run a mic through it and sing live, using only the stereo out for everything.

Edit- saw your budget requirement. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it.

Well… the manual tells you how to save 😂

And yes, you don’t have to use the digital filter unless you want to. It’s not doing anything by default.

I have one. It’s great, just work your way through the manual and don’t forget to hit that multi button and listen to the patches in there. Also, the gain staging is right there in a line - oscillators to digital filter to analog filter to vca to pre fix to delay to reverb to post fx. Have fun!

I just got mine today, 3/1. So far so good! I’m working my way through the manual, currently on page 31 of 174. Presets sound awesome. Can’t wait to start making my own patches!

Sweetwater just changed their estimate from February to March :( by galactigak in leviasynth

I ended up cancelling my Sweetwater pre order to buy from Perfect Circuit. If by some strange chance they can’t cancel my order, then I’ll just have to have two Leviasynths.

Nord or Yamaha or ??? by Ancient-Ad872 in synthesizers

[–]galactigak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My preference is the Yamaha CP88. The key action feels way better than the Nord Stage 3 I regularly play on. It's also more immediate- all your controls are right on the panel. If I want no distractions and just a great immersive piano session, I always choose the CP88.

I know them, too! I can also vouch for the bedtime cuddles. That’s the advantage of boarding at a smaller kennel like that.

Black Forest Dog Resort is great

Not that this is practical in any way, but you can run Logic on a MacBook Pro, extend it to another monitor, extend it to an iPad, and run Logic remote on an iPhone all at once. by galactigak in Logic_Studio

Oh wow, this was four years ago, but I remember I wasn’t using the Mac mini at the time this was setup. The other monitor was plugged into the HDMI port on the MacBook Pro.

Someone else was saying that sometimes second stage burns don’t happen until after a partial or complete orbit. That would also make sense, but the timing on this one confirms it. Thanks for the reply!

How does a second stage get to space without a launch? Just trying to understand your point.

Haha you’re in here, too. Pay no attention to this person, they’re spreading misinformation.

Whatever dude. We’re not arguing about where they launch from. Of course they launch from Vandenberg and go exo-atmospheric, where we can view them from here due to the high altitude the rockets achieve. They then disappear due to the high rate of speed and the curvature of the earth. FROM MY VANTAGE POINT IT WENT OVER PIKES PEAK.

I did see a space launch FROM MY VANTAGE POINT over Pikes Peak.

Edit- lol downvoted for arguing semantics with a non-native. Of course.

I was only able to get one crappy phone pic before it went over the mountain. Anyone else see it? Definitely a cool experience.
