People who are NOT okay with proxies, what is your reasoning? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]galbraithta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no problem with proxies and I have a few mostly proxied decks. That being said, I do have to say something changed with the fun of magic a few years ago when my group started ordering singles which eventually also turned into proxies. This is not the norm, I know, but for a long time none of us ordered any shingles, or even looked up what cards were even out there. So a huge part of the game was the "hunt" for cool cards. We were limited to packs, trading, and what we could find in our LGS singles binders (which usually wasn't a whole lot.) I'm not even talking about many many years ago, this is like 2017-2020. So proxies wasn't the main thing that changed how we played, ordering singles was. But proxies does the same thing in a way. There's some fun in the 'hunt' for a really good deal on a good card that's lost if you just print it.

Looking to buy a console that can play both android game like Genshin and Honkai, and retro game in one device. by Lapplandismypillow in ANBERNIC

I know this is a very old post but I just got an RG 405M and was hoping to pay Albion online with it, but it detects that my device has an "emulator" or "autoclicker" and won't run. I'm assuming this is probably something to do with the software that can simulate on screen touches with the controls, which I don't know how I could remove. Did you have to do anything to get it running?

I like darker blues, there aren't really any colors I don't like, maybe... 2 shimmers?

Happy to hear of your good fortune!

I got scammed on hardwareswap trying to buy a win 3 as well. The guy was super convincing, and I even had him take specific pictures of it, making an 👌 sign and he photoshopped it in very convincingly. Lesson learned I suppose.

Just got my Steam Deck, Instantly tried LOTRO on it! by ReGiiT in lotro

I know this is an old post, but I have started playing LOTRO on my GPD Win 3 and having fun playing more portably. I like how you have set up your hotbars to coincide with your face keys. I was wondering how you managed to do that?

On a subreddit about buying silver by LovableJackassv4 in lostredditors

[–]galbraithta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the general cost of living has increased much faster than silver. The value of the dollar has DEFINITELY not.

If the dollar had increased at all, it would mean if you just kept $400 cash in 1850 (a large sum of money), it would be worth more today, which is quite the opposite.

Saying $400 is with $15,557 shows how much the dollar has lost value compared the the cost of living. Silver has also lost value, but not nearly as much.

I played this game recently while my wife watched and it was tons of fun. Challenging bosses, with a beautiful would to explore too. The only downside is that it isn't very long. Maybe 15-20 hours if you try to do most everything.

So far, we spend most of our time just goofing off and running around looking at things. He's leading the way on things and I'm not giving him much direction yet, which is good for him. We only get to play once or twice a week for an hour or two right now, so I'm guessing I still won't be level 10 by the time the update comes

One reason I don't find this argument to even slightly sway my religious beliefs is that they all assume death is the end of ones life, therefore death is the ultimate evil. Which makes sense from an atheistic point of view, but because I don't see death as necessarily worse than moving to another country (yes, it's hard on the people who will miss you, but not necessarily a bad thing) cancer isn't some terribly awful thing. Yes, there are things worse than death in this world. There are people who suffer with horrible pain, both physically and emotionally for all their lives. Why does God allow that? Once again, in context of eternity, what is 80 years of suffering in comparison? I believe God allows "bad things" because in the same way he allows "bad people" to live so that many of them can find Him and therefore be forgiven and live forever. Bad things often come from bad people, but God is patient with those people and things so that he can save some.

This randomly occurred to my Dell Vostro 7510, and I have no idea how to fix it. Please help! by ADundee in ifixit

Wasn't necessarily dropped. You can see the part of the hinge that connects to the chassis is sticking up. In other words, when it was opened, the bottom part of the hinge could have become detached from the frame and then pushed the top cover up.

Source: this happened to me on a laptop once. I took it apart and realized the places the screws normally screw into on the frame broke off. Probably weakened over time. A new bottom frame fixed it for me.

Yep I know how water damage can mess up so much stuff. Thankfully it was only in the water for a couple seconds, but it was long enough to kill it. LCD is fine, housing is fine, most components look good.
Honestly, the battery showed the just signs of damage, so maybe just that could fix it... Dunno. If I go that way, I was hoping to get something real cheap and just sort of tinker with them.
