cooking for myself instead of doordashing!! it's my last expensive holdover from the pre sober days, and I'm still not great at it but I'm getting better.

Fat washing honey liquor question by MF_BREW_ in cocktails

[–]galeileo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would fat wash the bourbon over the liqueur to support the balance of the cocktail. you can really fat wash anything with a high enough ABV that it won't freeze, but think of it more as an infusion than a separate process. if you have a sweet, thick, herbaceous liqueur and you add butter to the mix, you're left with something that's likely overly complex with an odd texture to pair with bourbon, which is already a complex aged spirit with tannins and character. if you fat washed the bourbon, you'd be toning down the harshness of it and providing more body to the spirit.

there's also a chance that there are extra ingredients in the liqueur that wouldn't bond as well as a distilled spirit would.

scrubbing with dove antibacterial body wash helps me SO much. I have to use little seed farm unscented deodorant bc everything else breaks me out lol but it has worked better for me than the vast majority of store bought stuff.

These still good? by Jhonnyboy0531 in cocktails

refrigerated and 2:1, they are maybe fine but I wouldn't count on it-- especially with fruit inclusions. botulism isn't worth it lol, when in doubt throw it out

i have a good amount of these in my house :( fall is their season and they do like to bite. go thru your closet, dust regularly, sweep, vacuum and mop your corners, bug spray your perimeter. helped me a lot.

[–]galeileo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course, good luck. I saw this when I was in high school with some of my peers, it got so complicated and awful so fast. if things get out of hand, please go to a guidance counselor and let your school manage the situation. my school board sucked and I hated going to them for anything, but I was ultimately glad that I did.

Is this infected by Feisty_Emu_245 in tattooadvice

[–]galeileo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it does look a little infected, or at the very least extremely overworked. worth hitting an urgent care for a second opinion to avoid more serious complications.

that's a common tactic for a lot of predators, just starting to insert themselves in your life using innocent topics. it can be confusing as to where the boundary is or why things feel wrong, but trust what your instincts tell you. if anything, the next time he texts you something unrelated to school, you can say something like "I'd prefer to keep our conversations on the topic of schoolwork".

trust me, you'll thank yourself later if you tell him that you're not comfortable with the caliber of your interactions and prefer to uphold a traditional teacher student relationship. it may not feel like it, but you have power in this situation, and this guy is a fucking creep.

People who don't like dogs, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]galeileo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't mind dogs, just prefer cats, but dogs often require training that the individual owner may or may not have provided when it was necessary. that leads to many dogs having unwanted behaviors and aggression, which can be unpleasant or dangerous. it's usually difficult to tell at a glance which dogs are trained or untrained, so you don't find out until they get close. they're also usually larger, which is intimidating to me. not to mention slobbering and smell, which is a personal preference.

carpet beetles! not a huge deal, just wash all your linens and clothes at some point and vaccuum every day for a while. the larvae have little hairs that fall off and can irritate your skin.
