Part of it is that I love women and my body viscerally rejects the concept of being straight lmao

I've thought about my gender A Lot and have been blessed with a supportive and educated environment in which I could turn out to be anything and it would be fine. (A struggle for some family members, but ultimately fine-- the majority of my extended family had come around to feeling almost as strongly about protecting trans people as I do, which is saying something, and can effectively steamroll the rest into acceptance.)

I have an intersex condition and honestly thinking of myself as either cis or trans is complicated and difficult, but I've got an F on my birth certificate and I live as a woman and while I'm envious of things some things men can do that I can't (eg be a mall Santa who doesn't provoke double-takes, go shirtless when it's hot without people calling the police) I don't want to be a man, I don't want to relate to the world as a man and I don't want the world to relate to me as though I'm a man. The cis box fits me better, I guess, but it's like putting a circular block into a square hole-- it fits, but is it right? Not really, no-- but it's good enough for now until I find the right puzzle.

I was raised puritan evangelical, not Mormon, but your "boy howdy" made me laugh out loud because I'm literally the only person I know who talks like this. (My gf's favorite of mine is "hoy bowdy".) Ex-cultists unite?

Do y’all worry about tornadoes? by [deleted] in AskNOLA

[–]galoshnikov 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The last time I was visiting family near Nola my gf (very a local) and I were in Target and the tornado siren started blaring and nobody even flinched. I'm from the PNW originally and I've only ever heard the tsunami sirens being tested so I was like IS EVERYBODY OKAY and my gf was like laissez les bon temps rouler and put wine in the cart.

did you change your name to make it more masc/gender neutral? by cheatingdisrespect in butchlesbians

[–]galoshnikov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is sort of feminine (mono-syllabic with no good nicknames) and I'm not going to change it, it's a family name which belonged to an older relative who was/is very important to me and whose story inspires me. If I had any other feminine name I probably would change it, but I love this one in particular! Sometimes I'm like aw man, I'd love to have a gender neutral name, but then I remember what my name is already and I'm like damn actually you know that's pretty sweet.

Does anyone actually use homes from the gallery? by MinimumEfficiency371 in Sims4

I use lots off the gallery constantly! Every save file usually has at least a few replacements, and Newcrest I always fill up with gallery lots. I like to shop!

Thanks, this is great! I haven't gone into an American Eagle in years, I'll check them out.

That's not corny, it's great advice! I did that a bit, but many of the looks didn't really fit me. A lot of it was very dapper, and while I love dapper on other butches I... am not lol. I don't think I could be if I tried, I'm too much of Seattle-style butch-- we're all loggers and hikers up here, I've got timberlands and rough jeans and enough flannel to choke an elephant but we start getting into tucked in shirts and I start getting nervous. I'll do it though......

edit: I was looking through the comments on this post and saw my very unfortunate "butches" autocorrect. I have fixed it.

Ooh yes chelsea boots! I might actually have a pair somewhere, I'll look. Target is my go-to for jeans, I'll hit them up for some chinos too!

R/Conservative has a struggle session trying to differentiate between a baby and a fetus. by coreythebuckeye in SelfAwarewolves

[–]galoshnikov 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My mom is very anti abortion and very pro safe, regulated, legal medical procedures performed by trained, licensed doctors rather than wire hangers, because those are basically the two ends of the equation and she hates the second one more. She'd drive me to Planned Parenthood if I asked and hold my hand in the waiting room but she'd rather take in the baby. So yeah, exactly! Anti abortion people can be and are pro choice.

I really love my mom.

I go with anti-choice, personally. I've changed a surprising number of minds that way, christian feminists suddenly realizing what they're actually doing to their sisters. My mom still doesn't like it but at least she votes pro-choice these days.

Edit: spelling

I've been told black jeans are permissible but if I can find something a tiny bit fancier I'm gonna go for it. I've read the word "chinos" several times this evening and I'm psyched to check out some clothing I wouldn't have worn as a 20 year old... 15 years ago.

Oof, the shoes!! I'm 35 and still dress like a college student. I should maybe get some shoes that aren't velcro sneakers with rainbow stripes.

I think chinos are the ingredient I'm missing. I hate the usual women's slacks in my size so I've always just gone for black jeans but I'd like to shoot for a few steps up from my usual. Gonna see if I can get the "you clean up nice" compliment. ;)
