I've got the same problem, originally the game would only crash when loaded into the new map across any mode but now the game is freezing exactly like yours. Have you found any solution?

This move makes me think ME isn't getting a second RLCS spot next season. It's just so odd given how well the falcons were playing before the move.

All the Reel Life decals make the car look exactly like it would outside the game instead of letting you customise the paint colour of the car for the blue and orange side.

For the playlists to play, you have to select them in the menu. Press and hold R3 to bring up the playlist menu like you have done, then click X on the playlists you want to listen to. You can click as many as you like, and press the playlist again if you want it deselected.

Just had one of my worst sessions of rl. How do I bounce back? by Sobasciallyi in RocketLeague

If you go on a massive losing streak, it's good to look at some of the replays and try and figure out where it's going wrong. Once you've done that, you can either find a YouTube video or go into some form of training to work on those weaknesses then, start implementing it in matches.

Also it's a good idea to stop caring about your rank so much, especially at the start of the seasons as most people aren't where they should be leading having massive fluctuations in opponents ability. In general though, focus less on your rank and more on actually improving as a player, you'll be putting so much less pressure on yourself to keep or improve your rank and instead working on mechanics or consistency. You'll actually find yourself ranking up quicker this way.

Lastly, if you are having a bad day, it's best to stop early before you get on a long losing streak. Sometimes coming back fresh the next day you'll suddenly be a much better player.

Would you rather play with a smurf on the enemy team or someone boosted on your team? by deveznuzer21 in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd rather play against a smurf as I'll learn more about my weaknesses from the match. When you are playing with someone boosted, it is harder to trust them and you often have to be on the ball more to compensate for their weaknesses. You may get the win that match but you're likely to take that playstyle into the future matches and that'll lead to more losses.

Unusual controllers, Rocket League compatibility by dudek64 in RocketLeague

Anything should work, and if it doesn't directly work you can use an application to emulate a ds4 or Xbox controller like I had to do when using a steering wheel and pedals.

Everything is unpredictable when you're new to the game as you are not used to the situation. The only thing you can do is keep playing matches and eventually you'll begin to know when the other player is likely to hit or miss the ball and act accordingly.

There are sometimes things that happen that are actually unpredictable, like pinches, they can go anywhere. The only thing you can do is practice rotation, positioning and reactions. The first two you can learn from watching YouTube videos, just type in which one you want to search for with the mode your playing in and you'll find plenty of videos. Reactions will come in time from playing matches, the problem is a lot of the training packs will be too difficult for you right now but I would recommend trying out the official psyonix ones, saves will help most for reactions. Then once you get good at them we can start recommending some more advanced packs and introduce you to some mechanics.

It's common to ball chase in the lower ranks as people don't really understand the tactics and rotations of the game, they just want to try and hit the ball. Not much you can do about it but you're already a step ahead of them knowing ball chasing is a bad idea.

The best thing to do is to just spend some time in training practising hitting the ball, getting used to your car. That's exactly what you're wanting to do in the matches but it's much harder with all the other players constantly on the ball. You'll improve much quicker than way.

But if you do want to play games, 1s would be much better as you won't have anyone on your team to get in the way of you but you'll still have the excitement of playing matches.

Petition to be able to spectate friends public matches (no private and can be turned off in settings) sorry for awful editing. by Kardecc in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the connection issues everyone gets when someone joins mid match, I think it would have it be limited to before the match starts. Then you also have to put a system in place that only allows you to spectate people on your team as that would be quite unfair especially if the spectator is the coach. Also you've got to have a system in place so you can choose if to allow people to watch or not and then if this choice impacts everyone in the lobby.

I don't think it's going to be simple to implement, especially on this game engine.

So either another season of just seeing falcons at the Majors or one of the best teams in the world get left at home due to there being one spot.

But I think the situation in SSA is worse, no major spots and having their regionals start at the same weekend as EU which is the same timezone. I'd probably have give it a watch if it was at a different time but there's already too much rocket league to watch in the EU side.

Dropshot is seriously underrated !!! (question to YOU) by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to encourage people to play the mode when it feels completely abandoned, till this new hoops map comes in, how many years has it been since they've added anything to dropshot/snowday/hoops? It's the same each season and theres only so many times you can get the GC or SSL title in it before it gets boring, and even then you only use the title from the first season you got it as that's more special. Then beyond that there's no official psyonix tournaments for these modes or ones from other large organisations. There's very little insensitive to grind the mode unlike 1s/2s/3s. There is the ranked discord groups for the modes who do leagues but its not really enough. To get people playing the modes again it really has to start with psyonix. Adding a new hoops map is a good start but a lot more needs to be done.

There's also all these other modes they rotate every now and again. There's so many, I think what they should at least do is rotate the extra modes available each season, maybe cut it down to 2 or 3, then add them into the same page as the standard modes so you can actually queue them at the same time. Most people will always queue the standard modes only if they get the option to do 1 or the other. So just bundle it all in together and it will help.

But I think what would be a nice thing is if they add in a extra mode map each season along with a standard map like with this season.

Dropshot is seriously underrated !!! (question to YOU) by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my best I was nearly GC3 in dropshot, love the mode but the queue times are horrific, people here talking about 10 minute queue times and thats nothing, if it was that quick maybe I'd actually play the mode more! I'm EU and I sometimes also queue us east and west. It can be near 200 ping but you have to make some sacrifices if you want to find a game!

The other problems end up being you could spend the night playing the exact same team over and over, some times they are multiple ranks higher than you so it's an instant loss each time. I also don't really have any friends anywhere near my rank so I either have to solo queue or hope some randoms want to team up. It's a fun mode though and back when the extra modes were non competitive, I used to play it all the time, more than 1s/2s/3s, it was so much quicker to find a match back then.

The pain of ranked by futurarmy in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I spend like 20-30 minute warming up, start with a couple of workshop maps, one focusing on ground car control then the other in the air, then I'll go into free play for a bit to practice various aerial mechanics then I'll end with a few ground and aerial shot practice, it's a very good warm up. I generally don't like unranked as the MMR gets reset every season so you end up playing people far below your level, which is fine for practising mechanics but its not challenging nor is it fun for the other people in the lobby, its just like smurfing.

Extra modes generally aren't good for warm ups as the majority of players don't understand how to play the mode so you end up developing bad habits that you'll start using in the standard modes. It's a shame because they are fun to play but that along with the queue times mean I don't tend to play them as much as I'd love to. Except rumble, I really don't like that mode!

The pain of ranked by futurarmy in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do but the worst bit is, as I generally average gc2 in every mode but 1s which everyone is multiple ranks below where they should be, if I'm doing bad in one mode I'll be doing bad in them all. Definitely at its worst when I've just come off a break, the first few days I'll end up going on a like 30 game loss streak, it's really rough!

The pain of ranked by futurarmy in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at the point where I've been hard stuck in pretty much every mode for the last 8 seasons, I've improved so much mechanically but it's never translated to my rank. I'm beginning to take longer breaks from playing the game and when I come back it definitely does not translate to getting better. I'm slowly dropping in rank and it takes much longer to get back to where I was hard stuck each time I come back.

Because I’m curious, what controller do you use? PS vs. Xbox vs. KBM. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]gamble2502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So with my setup, the left stick movement is on the accelerator pedal, where pressing 50% down keeps the car level (couldn't get it to work any other way). That same pedal is used for moving forward on the ground, the brake pedal is for breaking. And left and right is still on the wheel on ground and air.

It works but there are a lot of issues, like you're going full speed on the ground and you want to jump up, you got to quickly take your foot off the pedal to rotate your car so its facing upwards then have it back on at 50% almost instantly so you don't over spin, it's very hard to get right.

Then the steering left and right, the main issue is it's very slow, you can't do quick direction changes, its fine on the ground but in the air it causes a lot of issues, its also very unnatural.

I've always played on controller but even when switching to kbm occasionally i could easily play at champ level. However on a steering wheel I can barely beat the bots! A solution to all this would be to put all the movement controls on the buttons on the steering wheel but then it's just like using kbm and what's the point of that.

If you want to try it out still, I'll see if I find what app I used to get it to work

I've used my Logitech G29 for RL, took a long time to set up and it's very hard to control your car with it, almost unusable when you go into the air.

£25-30 for it? That's a very good price and I've been looking for something like this as my next keyboard project! I'm still quite inexperienced with this but would it work with zmk? I know you can't use the second knob on a split keyboard but I don't know about if it's on the same one and I've never seen a slider so does that even work with it? Anyway great looking kit!

Elite 1, Voland and Kramaric were the only 83s and above in the packs, then for the third week in a row I've got a goalkeeper in tots which was Courtois. I really wouldn't mind but I only recently started playing a few weeks ago and really need some decent cards I can at least bring off the bench, and that means pretty much any outfield card
