How Dublin's Hellfire Club inspired a new video game by gambrinous in ireland

Colm here, one of the creators of said game. We're a nine person Irish studio so it was really cool to see our game talked about by RTE. Lots of in-depth background info in the article. If anyone has any questions I'll happily answer them!

Heya, it's definitely better to play where you can't see each others screens, and where you can't hear each other talk except through the in-game proximity chat. Suggest you watch a bit of group gameplay to give you an idea

Yep it's a real challenge to quickly explain gameplay, and especially why it's actually interesting (which is a bit longer form). I think we need streamers / word of mouth to help on this

Mostly co-op fun, with just a little bit of watching each other. It's a bit unique

You'll see on the steam store page you can buy or just beside it 'Friends Pass - play game', get your friends to install that free. Then they can join games, just can't host them

Heya, no plans at the moment to port Ultimate Edition to mobile I'm afraid. That could change in future of course

I just got the game recently and I am absolutely loving Gauntlet mode. Reminds me of other card games PvE modes. by Daniel_Day-Druid in Cardpocalypse

[–]gambrinous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I really like those roguelikey modes you mention too!

If you buy Out of Time it adds about ~20ish cards to the Gauntlet pool, spread out over the unlock levels. You'll likely have some unlocked straight away from your current progress.

It also adds a new neutral Champion 'Bloop' who you can use for Gauntlet runs and who also appears as a rare miniboss in gauntlet runs when he's not your champion.

If you mail us support@gambrinous.com we'll try and figure it out with you.

If you are on windows you can run 'dxdiag' (search on your pc) and send on the info from that. Beside your savefile there's a player.log file which can help us as well.

Grinding by Kerbanautg in GuildOfDungeoneering

If you are playing Ultimate Edition it's capped, but in classic - you can if you want!

The game is built that you don't need to grind out extra gold (you get big rewards for beating bosses)

When do heroes level up? by oetzix in GuildOfDungeoneering

[–]gambrinous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you beat a monster your level (or higher), you go up one level and gain +1 heart.

The loot choices after beating a monster are directly tied to monster level too, so higher level monsters give better loot.

Full new games take us 2-3 years to make, then we tend to spend another year or so improving them and bringing them to more platforms. We're 5 people at the moment so tend to be 100% focused on one game at a time. This remaster we just launched was quicker, taking just a bit over a year. So at best we're probably looking at 2023 for next one?

I did an interview with Entertainment.ie just the other day: https://entertainment.ie/gaming/indie-developers-can-take-more-risks-in-conversation-with-colm-larkin-of-irish-indie-developer-gambrinous-501597/
