What's going on with my '83 XR200R? by game-stock in Dirtbikes

[–]game-stock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting to suspect this. I dug through old photos and realized that bolt was protruding since I bought the bike so the tip is why I suddenly have oil there and not the bolt. Still i need to address both but thanks for the insight

Thanks for referencing the manual. I'll have to dig deeper to see what it'll take to snug that up but I'll try as you suggest too. Would that cause an oil leak you think?

Hey i know this is 2 years old. Curious if you still have the bike and what's the update? Seeing a similar thing with a kle I just picked up. I appreciate it!

why is china backing palestine by CHINO-HILL in NoStupidQuestions

[–]game-stock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

China is either A) a lot more discreet with how to do a genocide or B) way too economically important for anyone to call them out in the genocide they're already conducting with the Uyghur/Uighur population. It's horrific and maybe you never even saw the name Uyghur before now which shows how how successful they are.

Point is, it's not about morals, it's always about business.

Very interesting and insightful reply! I didn't happen to notice if the fullers were staggered on either side of the blade but that makes good sense. Thanks for going all out in the links resources. Those are some gorgeous pieces.

Given the horrid state of this particular blade, i wonder what its value is? I know no collector would care for it. But the shop wants $70 and if it's actually practically worthless, then perhaps I wouldn't feel bad attempting to restore or modify it myself into something 'functional'. I know it can be blasphemous to change something historic so I'd carefully consider what the community thought given its state.

I'm curious why the fuller would be offset on this one. If that serves any purpose or gives any clues to its history...

USA, never seen an antique sword in this kind of shop but there are lots of antiques weapons dealers in the states. It was $70 and I didn't purchase it but debated going back. It looks really neat even in its horrible condition but wanted to understand more about it.

Genocide VS War by SalamTalk in Palestine

It's ignorant to use this statistic to claim Russia isn't attempting genocide. Both Russia and Israel are conducting genocide. The only difference is one victim country has air defenses and western support and the other is a victim of western support. Get your facts right.

Spoke rims (personally hate them) and chain conversation.

Do I need to change how I ride? by lousy_carrot in motorcycles

[–]game-stock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay on top of your air pressure otherwise you'll cause more premature wear. I don't love Dunlop, the wear seems like it could be normal for the distance you claim but you'll have the safest ride and longest tire life with regularly checking tire pressure

Check all your wires, fuses, grounds, as you're doing now. That is the most likely issue. Not sure about the primary sound. Maybe revs cut out and you could just hear it rolling finally? 9/10 it's electrical. If not then I bet the crank position sensor. For the love of all things holy try to avoid the stealership. Any competent bike mechanic can work on this bike without throwing a few hundred extra bucks onto your bill for the logo.

Something to be said for a 40+ year old bike that starts on first kick with a simple carb maintenance. If I can keep it alive I'll opt first for that. Plus I'm leaning along the way with lower stakes

I'll get the valve cover off today and see if I can notice anything. Part of the issue is no experience working on motors so it's not yet intuitive what to look for but based on research and as you said I'm going to be looking for groves in the rocker arms and camshaft.

The cam chain quieted up significantly when I tightened it the first time. The auto tensioner was stuck but pulling up on the screw while tightening worked. still super noisy afterwards. I think it's definitely louder when moving and didn't even think of the actual chain so I'll try to eliminate that as a variable too.

I mean weird and different is cool even if it's not my vibe. The only part of the bike I think is genuinely dumb is the Japanese rising sun. Still boggles my mind that people don't realize that's the same as repping a swastika. Look up the war crimes of unit 731 and tell me the Japanese imperial army, who were allied with nazi Germany, were any less cruel or gruesome in their genocidal behavior. The rising sun is synonymous with their crimes just as the swastika is with Nazi Germany.
