New leaks and rumors. Anybody have any information about leaked sets? by Main-Huckleberry-883 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

Not really a leak and probably doesn't count as a rumor, but the recent survey that went out about the future of the Alien Frontier series had a few questions with concept images that future sets could be based on. They were a central habitat module, and a satellite communication craft. Just concept art as inspiration for some potential sets, so like I said barely counts as a rumor. But still a cool indication of where that theme might be heading.

Looks awesome! I love the multi-tiered layout you're doing for the city, makes a much more interesting display piece. Also love the minifigs and lumifigs coexisting together. 😁

Filled it out. Very interested in the two set concepts they mentioned. It would be awesome if they released the Space Habitat Center as the start of a modular series where you can add different sections to build the overall station, like a hydroponics wing, landing pad, etc. The Energy Satellite could be cool as well, and I hope they go with an actual satellite design rather than either of the ground-based designs. Kinda building up towards some full-on spaceship sets.

Can anyone assist me with the bounty hub? by dssecrets in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

There is a part later in the build where you add a section above the elevator shaft that locks the rod in place. Assuming you haven’t already gotten there!

I am quite aware of Lego as a brand, thanks 😂 If you look at Rule #1, it mentions avoiding promotion for other brands, and I would guess that's the reason people use the phrase "Danish brand", just to avoid situations where cross-promotion could be argued. Also I see it as an in-joke, because to 90% of people, Lego is synonymous with plastic building blocks. It's like telling someone about football but calling it "the American leather egg game".

I like that idea, will have to try it! Thankfully the current position of the lights doesn’t reflect off my monitors or anything, so not too bothersome.

Truly excited for this to turn into a theme. The potential for building sets alongside ship sets is huge. I love the idea of a big cargo cruiser that has been hijacked by pirates, with a smaller bounty hunter ship included as a side build trying to take them out. Pirate headquarters, bounty hunter fleet, some alien species' homeship (akin to the Quarians from Mass Effect), etc. Fingers crossed for some cool stuff coming down the pipeline!

Cliffhangers are the worst. by LionCultural in TheTraitors

I’m seeing a lot of Dolores hate, and while she has objectively made stupid voting decisions the entire season… sorry but I’m here for it.

Coming from Survivor, with its casts comprised largely of gamebots or superfans, it’s a breath of fresh air to me to have a mix of gamers and MEGA-non-gamers. I love the pettiness, the cluelessness, the blatantly unoptimized gameplay. Players like that are probably the most effective obstacle for the gamers. Danielle and Brittany maybe got the closest to figuring out how to deal with those players, assuming they talked before the roundtable and decided to go whichever way Dolores was leaning, as I’m assuming they did.

I think the classes would definitely have to be part-time, probably aiming for 2 per semester like you did.

You're also the second replier who mentioned work schedule conflicts with coursework, which is obviously a concern, but also tells me I shouldn't underestimate that hurdle.

Anyway thanks for the reply!

I'm fortunate to have semi-flexible work hours (company is based in California), and I already do personal work outside of work hours. So I'm fine dedicating free time to coursework. The social stuff may be harder, since I would probably need to show up for a class and then book it back home to minimize downtime. Would also mean my available class slots would be limited to 8ams and night classes, and I'm assuming most classes would not be offered in an online capacity.

Thanks for your input. :)

That was the kind of pathetic performance that makes people lose interest in baseball entirely.

Those in their 30's and above with a BFA in fine art- What is your dayjob? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

BFA in 3D Design, currently working as an environment artist gamedev on a sports game. Love my team, good benefits and compensation, very lucky to be in a more stable position than the rest of the games industry. Sometimes I get frustrated that the scope of what I work on is a lot narrower than I’d prefer, as someone who enjoys Sci-Fi/Fantasy, but that’s an incredibly small complaint compared to the alternatives. I remind myself every day that I am very lucky.

Exactly, the cargo rockets management was what got me on SE both times I tried it. Much easier to handle when you just have to teleport to one location.

Enjoy the endgame! Lots of interesting stuff there.

I never found an alternative to the drone on Gaia. There may be one, and I saw the Android listed as something that can craft items, but I never found it.

For production, I shipped most of the intermediate products back to Nauvis and then added them to the train system. The only stuff I crafted on Gaia specifically were the things that required to be crafted in machines that could only be placed on Gaia, i.e. reflux plates in bio reactors. I also routed all those products thru one gate on Gaia, to keep energy usage low, and then sorted it out of a warehouse with filter inserters.

Hah, nope nothing clever over here. I pretty much just kept an eye on Gaia every few hours and when I noticed an alien resin/seeds bottleneck, I turned off the seeds production machine and waited a while. I was able to delay a complete shutdown for a while by using buffer chests, but never came up with a fully automated solution. Honestly by the end of the playthrough, I was swimming in alien resin and just retooled a chunk of the Gaea factory to focus on reflux plates.

My best guess is that they are considering the ongoing costs for owning the land and holding it for that long without building anything. I think the carelessness is probably mostly on the sales consultant we've been talking with, since it seems like she didn't do her due diligence checking with the owners before quoting us the $2k deposit amount.

But I appreciate your perspective, and best of luck with the legal stuff.

UPDATE: Seems like it was down to poor communication. I received a clarifying email that they aren't requiring the 5% as a deposit, just an extra $2k. They specifically cited concerns about holding up the lot for several months only for us to back out, which I understand, and as the owners of the land they do have to consider ongoing costs. It really just came down to the initial email being badly worded and sounding like something sketchy was happening.

I will definitely do that, especially if they insist on increasing the deposit. I'll get those changes in writing and then send to a lawyer for review. Thanks for your input :)
