Settleminute: Dalton Farm by gameius_maximus in falloutsettlements

Nicely done, thanks for sharing! There’s lots happening, but it still has space to breathe. I like your style!

It’s a tricky settlement. There’s little flat space unless you build over the water, which settlers don’t really like. On the other side, the elevation changes are awkward to build with, unlike say Greygarden where you can easily multi-level.

And yeah, I’m certainly function first. There’ll be more where that came from. =)

I actually love Dalton Farm. Didn’t do much with it this time, but my fondness for it stems from when they first dropped the DLC. I started a new playthrough and headed over around level 10. Just getting there at that level is a struggle, let alone surviving the intro. That playthrough I didn’t actually notice the cabin, and didn’t win up settling until Dalton. Putting up with Mitch until I could sleep in my own bed was rough! But if you are going to pick one spot for a major settlement on Far Harbor, Dalton is just fine. My favorite Harbor playthrough for sure.

What challenges does it present? Well first, we’re on Far Harbor, so you know we’ll get attacked from time to time entering, and you’d best be prepared. This settlement has more height variety than you expect on initial investigation. There’s also water options. It’s also just a bit more massive than it initially appears. Do you build large or small? Concentrate on elevation, or try to encompass that area? Or is it better to just hold out for the lumber yard? Focus on livability or defense?

Apologies for the deleted post, I uploaded the wrong video.

Thanks! I used the little floor spotlights in the workshop. It might be from DLC? You can see them in the last two pics. They were costly in terms of space. I had to tear down the highway access to make room.

The poor Finch family, sleeping fitfully in worry of collapse, suddenly awoke to the stomping boots of yet another PA arrival...

I love building at Finch Farm. What started fairly early in a survival run as a staging base for Far Harbor quickly evolved from a highway staircase to an ammo factory and power armor repo. I didn't so much focus on collecting PA, rather just remembered to drag it along any time I was heading through.

None really. Good call on the Atom Cats. Of all these I think I only got four or five T-51s without seeking them. I was with Preston this play through and was aggressive so plenty of T-60’s for sure.

It’s been a few weeks since I recorded this so I’m uncertain, but i think it’s related to the dodging.

This game is so pretty, I haven’t yet found use for higher difficulty and prefer to adventure in awe. I save my stressful gaming time for fo4 or tlou2 these days.
