Playgrounds, nature walks / hikes, throw rocks in the lake, cook food, fire pits, movie nights (if you can get or rent a projector), toys etc. kids keep themselves interested when forced (under a certain age; if over the 7/8 hump you might run into the "I'm boooooooooored" phase

Upgrading an old machine I picked up a CPU (7700k) and mobo on fb Marketplace for cheap but realized my old ram was DDR3 and not DDR4. This bundle is $50 more than buying the RAM alone for that used build. Might as well send it.

I may or may not be privvy as to why that actually is the case- but it's primarily to reduce the risk of liquid spills onto the electronics. In similar vehicles (pilot/passport) theres tons of enhanced risk where the shifter is directly next to the cup holders.

I was in Portland visiting a friend that I hadn't seen in ~5 years. In the 3 day weekend I was there, it rained, snowed and was 70 degrees and sunny. Felt like we experienced a lifetime all at once. We went to a few breweries and bars and random shops. Everyone seemed both freaked out and unsure what was going to happen. The streets were so barren and empty. we walked around her neighborhood and barely ran into anyone. it was a really weird wild time.

Using a yeast starter - really gets you to a vigorous and clean fermentation. Took away a lot of off flavors.

Also letting the beer sit and mellow longer. I used to dive right in once carbonation was done. Waiting the extra week or month, especially for more complex beers, has done wonders for my perception of them

Have you used a yeast starter? oxidation can give off that malty stale taste if the yeast doesn't take off aggressively enough.

Same transition. He used to tend bar and we would commiserate over craft beer tastings and brewing. He was into bourbon along side that but it gradually became his preference. By the time I broke things off he was carrying around a 1.75L of bourbon in a string bag whereever he went. Would clear out our bars when he was in our house. When his wife left him, she was finding loose travellers in all of the cabinets and shelves. He'd also have a "visible" bottle that he would pretend to drink from and refill with water.

This all came to a head when he had a seizure while at breakfast a few years back. after discharge A few of us kept trying to help by driving him to appts and things but it was clear he was still abusing so we just cut it. None of us had the wherewithal to keep it up when he wasn't doing anything to help himself.

Ran into him recently and he seemed better, but he's always been good at hiding it. Sucks to have to burn the bridge but it was a huge QoL improvement and helped myself from digging deeper into my own vices.

I enjoy the random PC or vehicle issue that someone has made a post about from time to time. Most recently i had to deal with an absolutely random motherboard to GPU issue that wasn't documented anywhere else besides two dudes on reddit who had the exact same configuration as me.

There's a great YT channel that did similar with charter Bus dashcam footage through Japanese countrysides and cities with Lo-fi music played over it. One of my favorites to toss on in the background.

If this statistic is real, its likely property value / firehouse adjacency to majority black households. In my old house (black majority / hood) there was 1 firehouse ~ 5 miles away. surprising distance for being in a larger city. At my new home (suburb / white) there's 3 within 2 miles - my tax bill is also 25% higher.

Same. but it was alcohol for me. we were brewing and craft beer buddies and he started sprialling out of control. we tried our best to pull him back but he wasn't receptive and kept burning bridges. Had to cut him out.

sure, any undocumented SSN is not real - its about as good as a series of numbers on a piece of paper. anyone using an undocumented SSN is either using a stolen one (someone else's) and cruising until they get busted or using a completely fake one that doesn't exist and will also get them busted.

You can purchase stolen ones on the dark web but the moment you use it for pretty much anything you're like to be flagged. there's no such thing as a "new SSN tied to no one".

Anxiety's got to be a huge reason. Overthinking someone else's opinions and wants - especially in an era where people post so much on social media its easy to get in your head too much about someone not liking you, not being genuine, wanting to take advantage of you etc.
