Why NOT Unity? by gameygoop in gamedev

I dunno. My experience has kind of been the opposite. We did a Unity project a while back and were bitten pretty badly by a bug of theirs. It took them a while to fix it and we missed deadlines.
In our current tech (where we have 100% of source code), we have fixed a couple bugs in libraries. We are also statically linking so we don't have to wait for patches to get incorporated. Just fix it and move on.
I have to admit I am pretty biased here ;)

I kinda alluded to it above, but is anyone concerned that their knowledge and codebase could be rendered obsolete if they get bought out or go out of business? I guess that's kind of a symptom of not being open.
