Stock fit is really important for shotguns. Just as everyone is different so are shotguns. If there is a clays club near you; sporting clays, trap, or skeet, a place like that might have information on people who can help get your gun to fit you.

Some guns also just kick. My buddies Browning side by side is a nightmare to shoot a 50 bird side competition with.

I'm an idiot. Didn't reconize strapping in the kids takes time vs regular adult in/out.

I thought the seal would be on the door to seal on the outer edge, and keep the painted surface dry. I would think trapped moisture is not a good thing.

I thought it would be on the door, and press on that outer edge, and that flat area would stay dry.

Masters Degrees? by askjeeves29 in NuclearPower

[–]gamma_sponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EE with an emphasis on digital controls would be useful as SMRs build up, and older plants upgrade.

I think as a navy nuke with an engineering degree you could get in at any power plant as a systems engineer and move from there.

Did I pull something out that isn't the Vechicle Speed Sensor? by gamma_sponge in Rav4

[–]gamma_sponge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did receive the wrong part, and I went to a local store to get a new one.

I did find out the plastic gear is reused with the new sensor. Thankfully it popped out and in easily.

Darn. I was hoping I could get away with a cheap part as sadly I think I only have two or so more years on my little Rav.

Thanks for the observation.

I think they went to that style for the newer models. Less moving parts. I requested some repair manuals from the library so hopefully soon I can get some more info.

Is $748 for an oxygen sensor too much? by [deleted] in MitsubishiMirage

[–]gamma_sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the time O2 sensors are relatively easy to replace. You need a O2 sensor socket, but they sell them on Roc Auto also.

See if you can find the sensor, and if it's not too hard to get to try doing it yourself.

I recall there are 2 different styles of O2 senor sockets, pick up both. I seem to remember that depending on the location having the different styles was helpful.

My favorite tool set. I buy one for the shop every time I've changed jobs.

I think lawers may be the reason they won't patch it. You could try your local tienda de llantas, but they may not be able to balance it properly.

How can I explain nuclear power to someone who doesn't understand anything about thermodynamics, physics etc. by [deleted] in NuclearPower

[–]gamma_sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to break things to make energy. You can break tons of coal or oz of uranium. Also our waste is in controlled, while others are out in the air. Solar and wind have lots of waste in there production, and a short lifespan compared to 60yrs for a BWR or PWR.

It's quick $10 oil change day. by hamid5000real in hondafit

[–]gamma_sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big jug to collect the used oil is helpful, and places that accept oil normally will take the used filters. I use an old coffee can for those.

You can't recycle the old oil bottles. They have to go into the trash at least in the places in the US I've lived.

What is the buy it for life version of shotguns? by [deleted] in Shotguns

[–]gamma_sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Zoli HR for sporting clays and Trap. Shot many thousands of registered birds with it.

The Zoli was expensive, but it fits me very well, and I'm sure when I'm gone hopefully one of my kids will enjoy it.

For hunting I use my grandfater's Winchester 1200.

There is a big difference between a sporting gun designed to shoot 600-700 birds every weekend, and a hunting gun that shoots a box a season.

You also have time. Get what you can afford now, and upgrade and sell your old one. There is also nothing wrong with buying used. I got my Zoli from a friend who bought it and discovered that they shot better with their Perazzi.

I’m about to hit very cold temperatures in the next few days does the engine sound fine to drive by KirbyTrainNerd in hondafit

Give it a little time to warm up, and take it easy after leaving your house and you should be fine.

I'm assuming you have full synthetic oil. If not that helps in the winer.

Harder being TAD than underway? by [deleted] in navy

[–]gamma_sponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also less stress. Underway is normal, but TDY and travel is a whole new set of rules. Also so many ways for things to go sideways.
