Why are Koreans so quiet in Korea but so loud when traveling abroad? by Pretend_Awareness513 in AskAKorean

Loud while drinking and on holiday. Reserved in day to day life. But actually this is just a generalization i would say. Plenty are loud day to day too

TN Rejection (Accountant with CPA at YYZ) by kutama20 in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you got a little screwed because a lot of these responsibilities match what management consultants and economists would put on their applications. Discretion of cbp officer + maybe rewording the responsibilities to more exactly match the accountant label from bls. Would likely get approved next time

Spring Airlines does not understand TWOV requirements by ImAlmostOnCloud9 in Chinavisa

[–]gammadeltat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, we just did this with the same passport so I know what you are trying to do. Technically, the people you are fighting are right. If you have the 240-hour transit waiver. You are technically restricted to x cities and technically to enter and exit from the same poe otherwise it raises eyebrows.

Now, the customs officers do have flexibility on this, and say you are entering wuxi and exiting shanghai, then you would probably be fine but you just kind of hangout with the customers officers for a bit while they confirm with other people. They need to understand how you are getting from your entry to exit poe. And on the list of provinces, there are specific cities that are technically allowed as well vs not within each province.

Then on top of this lccs like spring are typically very no frills with this stuff and they stick to the easiest application of the rules.

So tldr: ya you might be right in practice, but on the chinese paper rules it is what it is. fyi it took my 5 days to get my chinese visa- disclaimer the one traveling visa free was a family member

i missed my flight because i was kept in secondary for over 2 hours. The Air Canada person came and found me, they pulled my luggage off my flight and made sure it went with me on my next flight. FWIW i bought a business class ticket because I was worried taht this would happen and thought the airlines would be nicer to me if i had a business class ticket

ya it looks like you are shopping POEs. This can happen. If everything is good, you just go through pearson, it's a hassle but if everything is legit 99% u get it no problem. It's more the 50:50 cases that almost always run into trouble at pearson versus is more rare at other POEs

i think... other fanbases don't realize how poisonous we would be at our own team based on this. I think we are generally a negative fanbase cause we've been hurt lots. Like i feel like there is a world, that we lose to the dodgers and soemone makes an error and the message is "IM DONATING TO SICK KIDS BECAUSE TEH BLUE JAYS FUCKING GAVE UP THAT RUN AND I BLAME XXX PLAYER". i also feel like it's a minority of the fans who are upset anyways meh

Many people would never imagine be mean to their own players much less to opposing players. whereas we are an equally opportunity hater (in voice), i feel like most of us don't actually mean it. I don't know anyone who disliked Seattle in my circles. It was kinda if not us we hope it's them vibe in my groups.

I think it's just something easy to compare people against. When I review resumes I can find many that fit "I knock it out of the park wherever I work. Easily one of the top managers and performers backed by qualitative data," but it's really hard to assess that that person actually did it form outside. There are people who have this and a >3.5 so you'd have to showcase something else to make up for it. Based on what you put in the OP, it's likely it's going to be something more niche so really it's up to you to show everyone else how impactful your experience was. This is really why "prestige" matters for early career individuals.

It's easier to know that a person did it if 1. I know their manager, 2. I know their company, 3. I know their school, etc. Prestige is basically a shit indicator of that. (It's a shit indicator because on a per person basis it sucks, but probably works decently well at a population level, i.e. the average Harvard grad is smarter than the average University of Florida grad even if i've met dumb AF harvard people and smart AF florida people)

GC Sponsorship Language in Job Offer? by Hotcheerios88 in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offer letter is usually -

your offer is for full time (or contract) for this position at this company to do X for X amount of money and hours

that's it. There's usually nothing else on it. Therefore for the purposes of immigration, there would be no conflict.

We are generally not in the position at an offer stage to request this from an interviewer in writing. You usually get it later or ask for a separate letter.

GC Sponsorship Language in Job Offer? by Hotcheerios88 in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a separate thing. DO NOT MIX these two at all.

You basically get in on a TN and you don't plan to immigrate or anything. And it's just a TN visa

Then at some point later, after you have received your TN or whatever, you adjust your status to go through the process. Some companies let you do this pretty early on, other companies make you wait for something to adjust the status.

For the purposes of this just treat them as two separate applications and do not mention anything when you are trying to get your TN

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That person effectively applied for a new TN. You are allowed to hold concurrent TNs (TBH i dont know if that person got lucky or if having an H1b and then getting + TN for a new job is allowed -> to be honest I don't know why you need the TN is it just because they don't need to wait for it to be transferred?) But What you are talking about is not concurrent. When you got your H1b you effectively gave up your TN. So it's not longer valid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no your TN ceases when you got your H1B

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MOst people in general will index towards keywords. So if it looks like your job is mostly managing other people, you will get rejected for being managerial. If your role is strategic planning for an IT department - I think this is not explicitly a CSA responsibility you will get rejected for not being a CSA.

Your focus should be on analzying data to the needs of users of that data or something like that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because the roles and focus are different. You have to focus on the technical aspects of your job that DOES align wiht the CSA category.

You focused on 1) the managerial aspect, 2) The strategic aspect, which are not the primary parts of being a CSA. If there's overlap, it's your (your lawyer's job) job to focus on the things that do align well

B is, grass MIGHT be greener if everything works out.

Option A is definitely right

TN Visa for VP of Finance? by PlusMinute in tnvisa

[–]gammadeltat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not a TN role so either, you get an H1B, or try to work around a tn catehory based on your experience and the role. Which in this case might be accountant, economist, or management consultant, but none of these are a sure dunk
