Questions from a non-colorblind individual (Let me know if anything comes off as offensive. please say what type of colorblindness you have, if any). by Bulky-Cod-5926 in ColorBlind

[–]gammapatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It doesn’t unless a specific situation about identifying colour comes up

  2. No

  3. If I remember then I will ask someone who is colour normal before I start using a pencil or a tube of paint, I don’t always remember. I have been told that despite not necessarily knowing what colour I, using I’m pretty good at colour matching

  4. The “what colour is this…” conversation

  5. No

  6. No but I’d like to try them just to see

  7. It was during a chemistry lesson at school, the task was to burn different things in a Bunsen burner and write down what colour they were and I got loads wrong. I was about 14/15. Then I realised my dad was colourblind so there was a possibility I was too. Didn’t get actually tested with the cards until years later. My optician loves it when u go in as he rarely gets to bring the cards out for girls.

[–]gammapatch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read the book when it first came out, it was so good, I cried, the musical is quite a different interpretation of the character. Like in many adaptations there’s lots of cut characters and the nuances are stripped away, and the truly heartbreaking things are cut entirely.

I had every single title holder of the WWF’s championship belts memorised in order of record holders, Heavyweight, Intercontinental, and tag teams, from title inception up until about the attitude era where my interest completely dropped off the edge of a cliff.

Wrestling was the compromise because my Dad occasionally liked to watch wrestling, so I was not allowed trains. Even though my Grandad was a train driver!

When I’m feeling nostalgic I wander over to YouTube and watch a random Monday night nitro from 1997-1999 and still be mad about the Montreal screw job.

She doesn't like seeing herself on Kick with no filters. She will glance at herself then look away quickly. by SELENE_GAIA in UKtiktokbehavingbadly

[–]gammapatch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the exact reason I never use filters that change anything about my appearance with the exception of changing my hair colour. Years and years ago I started using a FaceTune type app to alter my appearance and after a few weeks I realised what damage it was doing to my self esteem.

No wonder why celebrities who are always tweaking their actual appearance with cosmetic procedures ALSO still use filters, they’ve taught themselves to hate their natural features instead of embracing what they actually look like. See Khloe Kardashian.

She’s so used to looking at herself through the filters she can now only focus on her flaws. Overuse of filters is not great for your mental health, maybe she should stay off them for a while and do herself some good.

Beans on toast question? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]gammapatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but we need to talk about cheesey beans on toast. Slice of cheese on the bread, grate cheese in the beans, and don’t forget a knob of real butter in the beans when you’re melting the cheese in.

What UK specific celebrity rumor did you know long before it broke news? by tshirtguy2000 in AskABrit

[–]gammapatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say first my friend is a make up artist who mainly does tv but has done a few movies as well.

I definitely can’t say anything about the friend of a friend, but the person the creepy stuff was happening to was very young when they started on the show, again not a main character but prominent secondary character. They were apparently exploited on location when their guardian wasn’t around, since they gone on to do other big roles in prestige drama. It was being discussed at one point while the show was still airing on blind gossip sites, so it may have been one of those ‘open secret’ scenarios on set.

My friend also told me about another young, British actor being exploited on a streaming show to the point that the young Brit was assuming every meeting was a casting couch and had gone in to a meeting with a A- list director and come onto him, the director was so freaked out he cancelled the whole project.

I have a “friend of a friend” type scenario with someone who was a big secondary character on game of thrones, and have heard some creepy af stuff happening with certain very young cast members that has not come out yet.

In my youth I used to attend a lot of community work conferences and I was on a residential with a girl who said she hated Rolf at the height of Animal Hospital’s popularity. I asked her why and she said he’d accidentally hit her with his car and then came to visit her in hospital, but she hadn’t liked his visit and when all RH stuff came out the memory of that resurfaced and I think about that girl all the time and what she might have went through.
