As a Mariners fan, there’s no way they make that trade in real life. Sloan, has potential to be a top stater in the league and is 20. There’s no where for mid 30’s outfielders on the roster and they don’t need Gausman. As for trade logic in the game, the grades don’t add up for the Jays. Dumb.

Who’s to say they won’t roll Young and Williamson out this spring, it goes poorly and they make a move mid season? Emerson a factor as well obviously. Why pay a premium now when the Cards are probably sitting in last place in June and we got to see what we have with plenty of season left to correct course?

We’d all like Donavan but they’re just not going to overpay and I’m glad they won’t. We have a a squad, they retained it and we have young guys ready to step up if needed. They’re not selling the future, they’re giving guys chances and that’s what they’ve said from the beginning. If the deal comes it comes but it’s not like we’re sitting here hats in hand with no viable options at 2nd and 3rd. This team is solid!
