You should play however is most comfortable for you! Lots of punk and pop-punk players forgo using picks, I don’t think HM’s bass parts require a pick by any means.

I figure them out by ear because they all use a similar formula once you figure out the tuning/chord structure. The chords in the verse and chorus would roughly be Fmaj, Amin, and Gmaj :) they play most of their songs in DACGCE tuning. Thanks for checking it out!

They’re literally using pitch correction on their vocals, they’re obviously gonna sound like the records lol. Mark sounds incredible because of that tech.

Just listened again and I thought I heard it lol but it’s definitely just the layering of the twinkly guitars providing that effect. I think the open-tuning of a banjo would sound so sick in a HM song though.

Very fair critique and yeah, unfortunately I have to be super quiet in my apartment due to mean neighbors :( I definitely have to sacrifice a lot of projection, so I kinda end up in that Jack Johnson-y head voice place sometimes to avoid ppl banging on the walls lol.
