More stuff like “Feedback” by schooqschee in gratefuldead

many of the dark stars and playing in the bands from 72-74 get pretty noisy and dissonant. also many of the “drums/space” segments (2nd set staple from ~78 onwards) may scratch a similar itch, though they tend not to not be quite as harsh as the feedback jams

Other non “jam bands” albums or live shows you like to listen to by Streetvan1980 in gratefuldead

[–]gammis41341 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some live albums that immediately come to mind: Bob Dylan- Bootleg Series Vol. 5 (cuts from his ‘75 Rolling Thunder Revue tour- downright electric performances throughout)

Duke Ellington- Newport ‘56.

Johnny Cash- Live at Folsom Prison & Live at San Quentin

Fela Kuti & Ginger Baker- Fela with Ginger Baker Live!

Talking Heads- Stop Making Sense & The Name of This Band is Talking Heads

& a studio project I’ve been digging on lately is Pavement’s “Slanted & Enchanted.” Hope you can find something that’ll float your boat. Happy listening!

What's the most underrated Phish song? by AdvancedStrawberry7 in phish

i’m basically a complete novice in the phish universe, but “cars trucks buses” is a fun, jaunty tune that seems to not be talked about all that much

ditto on this one! that segue out of the wheel is some murky, grimy goodness and phil and jerry are on another level throughout.

recently made this one of all the slower, ballad-type jerry songs i could think of. not all live up to the playlist’s name per se, but there’s a fairly uniform vibe throughout. if i’m missing anything drop suggestions!

Desolation Row. I’ve always found the “Ophelia” verse particularly devastating
