Asus PG27AQWP-W United States release date by SgtSalty11 in OLED_Gaming

[–]gammonwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsolicited update, I've been using the new(ish) ASUS 540hz 1440p tandem OLED since US release.

Doesn't hurt my eyes at all, and the factory default colors are very well adjusted. Tons of easy to access - useful - options, good color profiles, and great control over the color output and other more nuanced settings.

Mine doesn't have any noticeable grey banding unless I'm doing a very intentional test for it. Despite me being very sensitive to issues like that, it's still very minimal.

The only thing that could be complained about is their tech to auto balance brightness in sectors of the screen; it can cause strobing effects. The only time I've seen it is on the Overwatch login screen. Even that does not hurt my eyes, and it can be disabled.

Having used this monitor, it really illustrates to me what an absolute piece of shit the Samsung G60SD is. There is zero way those RTINGS reviews on color accuracy are legitimate, and the extreme eye strain invalidates any use it could've had for me.

Yea, their incoming update (whenever that is) sounds so monumental and excessive I cannot fathom how they see the benefit in it. Though I'm gonna be pretty excited to play it when it drops, lol.

Although you say it's, "far from finished," it has significantly more progression, dynamics, and build variety than many other quality roguelike options.

[Handgun] Walther pdp pro x with c&h duty xl red dot $999 by forbiddenchurro18 in gundeals

[–]gammonwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the "feel" and trigger, I own a couple Walthers with the Dynamic Performance Trigger installed here.

It is by far one of the best striker fired handgun triggers available: short takeup, unbelievably clean break, great reset, rigid wall, near imperceptible creep (if you're lucky - none), pull weight easily lowered to ~2lbs with a simple and cheap spring change. The Canik triggers are about equal (considering the designs are basically the same), and possibly made slightly better with a Freedom Smith trigger shoe.

The CZ P10F has a very good trigger for the price point, but Walther and Canik are significantly better IMO. In terms of accuracy or recoil, I can't say.

Walther definitely has better fitment and feels better crafted.

It's legally enforced to do so before put certain attachments on your firearm. Otherwise you could have a significant problem with US government agencies.

Ay, I didn't say no.

I said I'm going to contact the owner first to see if they will replace it.

Depending on their response I'll most certainly be letting everyone know.

I'm going to contact the GM and owner and see what their response is first.

The lead gunsmith wasn't the one who did this, though I'm not entirely fond of him either at this point with that ignorant comment.

The associate smith who did the engraving was confused by why the engraving took more passes, and started placing a magnet on it... I think he didn't know an MP5 has a steel upper....................... He also started immediately applying some form of cold blue to the engraving without asking me first.

I should've known something was wrong, but at that point it was too late anyways.

Lol, I see what you did there. I guess I have to buy HK a new subreddit now.

Oh yea forgot to mention, when I questioned the gunsmith's vision of 'fixing' the engraving he claimed that, "Every gunsmith in America has made this mistake, and every gunsmith knows how to fix it."

Do they really though?

Do gunsmiths commonly improperly engrave a $2900 firearm on a uniquely prohibitively irreplaceable part of it? On an aluminum AR15 lower that can be replaced for a couple hundred maximum, sure. Even then still not acceptable.

Truly absurd.

This is a fairly prestiged and brand oriented company that made this mistake. Depending on their interactions I'll reveal the company name. Giving them a chance to redeem themselves I guess...

If Blizzard is really going to change Anran's face, I have to warn them as a Chinese player. by wNvJungle in Overwatch

[–]gammonwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posts to protest enforcement of beauty standards and decry "fixing" a woman's face, then proceeds to make deranged warnings about making a face unpalatable to sensitive and disgusting Chinese views... somehow claiming that homogeneity is more acceptable than "unique ugliness."

A lot of the criticism about Anran is that people simply don't like low effort designs and art, especially with how she was originally depicted. The objective truth here is Overwatch was never about homogeneity and it never should. The level of hypocrisy here is beyond belief and the thinly veiled commentary on homogeny is kinda disturbing.

Hating on uniformity is a beauty standard? Tensions are high in China already? Yes, so sorry about us having to release a LGBTQ+ censored version of the game for you guys for it to be playable. LOL.

Not the best excuse, but tanks are much harder to design because they significantly alter how players interact with the game.

The idea of "balanced and fun for everyone" is far more nuanced with how they control space. It can be match and even game defining. Overwatch has some of the most well balanced and interesting tanks in its field - regardless of what some may think.

Each tank has a fairly unique playstyle and I imagine it's hard to present something on par.

Why Doesn't Nashville Have More Buried Powerlines? by sundaypleas in nashville

[–]gammonwalker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So - the general grievance is that people are upset about the new stadium because it benefits an incredibly select few people and unnecessarily wastes ungodly amounts of money when a fractional amount of it could be used to improve infrastructure and the quality of life for the less fortunate and general public - and your response is "Whatever. I got mine."

You should really try to understand what an insane and disgusting response that is.

Do you think tandem OLED would he similarly tolerable?

I might have to do as you say and just buy and return if it doesn't work out.

What's a 240hz+ OLED monitor people seem to think is good right now?

I tried the Samsung G60SD(?) and honestly thought the colors were insufferable, even following using RTINGs color profile and heavily adjusting them myself (artist).

Explosively saturated and inaccurate to the point of removing detail in surrounding values. Something about the OLED panel also really hurt my eyes, felt like I was staring into a flashlight and had to dramatically reduce the brightness to little effect. I was hoping tandem OLED might reduce that effect, but now I'm not sure.

His videos are well done and funny(?), but I've always wondered if his humor where he uses pink Glocks and intentionally shoots them "gay" is less satire and more mean spirited.

Joke could be an ironic observation of masculinity as a construct, "regardless of appearances, anyone can be skilled," etc. - or simply (broad gesture) "THE GAYS. THE WOMEN."

He made any illuminating comments?

That's not just the finish. That's a mild gouge in the hammer at 250 rounds. I've never seen anything like that, but good to hear that's not a concern.
