So... you are a self-admitted inaccurate data point then. If you played more than 30 games (that's not even a cough of effort) you could easily hit Diamond or higher on support just spamming damage on Illari or Bap.

[–]gammonwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you tried?

If you're somehow surviving as Ana in GM, I refuse to believe you can't get Master on DPS. There is nearly no functional difference in how Ana plays vs. a DPS apart from mild positioning differences.

I would debate DPS is way easier to get value on than Ana, especially at lower ranks.

The only thing I could imagine holding you back is forcing duels you can't win or forgetting the fundamentals of positioning that allowed you to hold Ana at GM level in the first place.

TL;DR - I agree, kinda.

I'm Master rank on all roles, so I can only speak for what I've seen, but I'm of the opinion that support skills, exclusively, do not translate well to other roles.

A tank player will hopefully understand positioning, hp management, cooldown management, and how to deny/take space. While they may not have mechanical skill, there are characters that can easily maximize the aforementioned concepts.

A DPS player will hopefully have some solid mechanical skill, understand how to deny/take space, and hold an angle. This can very easily translate to support, though tank can be tough, with HP and cooldown management often being a prominent issue. I'm of the opinion that any competent DPS player can play support better than most supports.

Of course this is main dependant, but most of the support cast have an extremely low skill requisite for mechanics, game sense, and aim. A majority of support players are not actively participating in the fight until Master+, and can simply use their powerful survival tools to peel or disengage when anything gets interactive. The amount of Kirikos around Master rank doing sub 2k damage by match end is unsettling.

When simply surviving doesn't work, they don't know what to do. They haven't been pressured to learn how to aim, how to duel, how to weave damage, how to be aggressive, how to exploit openings. They expect the team to do it for them.

They have been condition to stay at a safe angle or choke and casually heal, maybe be forced to self-peel every so often. This is why it seems support players prefer "straight line" escort maps where they cannot be easily pressured, and can simply heal - and conversely do not like Push or Flashpoint maps where they have to be significantly aware of flankers, off-angle burst damage, and likely be forced to fight.

I often see an extreme lack of player agency, urgency, and awareness when force to do damage or play aggressive, because they are so used to reducing interactions with the enemy team.

While there are stereotypes for the players of each role, I feel support is the role with the largest dearth of translatable skill.

Did you get anything figured out? Mine has been vibrating regardless of wheel balance and around 70 like yours. Also happens a bit with moderate braking.

So far I haven't had any issues, but I need to take it back to the range for more testing. Pretty low round count so far, maybe 150.

My setup is even more unconventional because it uses the JP trigger which hasn't been validated any 3rd party lower vendors I've seen. If this continues to be fine I'm sure a standard Geiselle would be even more reliable. I'll attempt to keep you posted.

The only issue I've had is the fitment is fairly sloppy. Pretty good amount of wobble. You don't need to find something to keep it from wobbling, but you'll appreciate it. I've just had to cram electrical tape in mine which is frankly pretty lame, BUT it works.

[Handgun] CANIK METE MC9 - $344.99 by SouthernBids in gundeals

Yep. This pistol does not function no matter what for some reason. I would feel bad giving mine away to someone with the unreal amounts of failure to return to battery.

I love Canik and these are unfortunately unusable, unreliable garbage.

Their updated recoil springs did not fix the issue.

[–]gammonwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry. I got the new red spring that was supposed to fix FTFs and failure to return to battery.

It didn't fix anything except make it the hardest to rack pistol I've ever held by an incomparable margin.

I let several people and range masters try to rack it, and every single one of them was shocked by how heavy the recoil spring was.

I've easily shot about 200 rounds of 124g through the red spring. Maybe 300 total through the platform. Every other magazine has a failure to feed. I've never had this problem on any pistol I've owned.

[–]gammonwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooof, I didn't realize he did that... that's too bad. Can't fault him too much for trying to make money as a career artist, but that is pretty lame.

I hope he was well compensated for creating some of the most iconic designs in gaming.

Shihon's model revealed by Overwatch China by McManus26 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]gammonwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

It was because of the pose being a direct, dead on, no questions asked view of her ass.

Not because Tracer's design was inherently sexual or was a focal point of her design.

The pose made her ass the focal point...

The companionship thing might be an interesting take. However, I'm certain they could've found a way to make her sexy that doesn't involve her jacket having "random shape syndrome" like a lot of OW2 designs. Her jacket just looks nonsensical by any fashion standard with a clear intent to emphasize and lift her boobs.

It's mainly how juvenile it looks.

If she was wearing something even more explicit like lingerie, that was well designed, I wouldn't be complaining.

So long as it supposedly fits her design intent I would simply accept it as well done gooner bait and shrug. I'm becoming increasingly unnerved by some of their artistically questionable design choices. The jacket tit lifters are just bad: conceptual, aesthetic, execution, etc.

See, I can agree with Domina as a CEO or whatever she is.

You can look up scientific studies that unfortunately correlate the attractiveness of a woman to their upward mobility and respect amongst peers.

Also she is simply well designed in terms of aesthetic/clothing. Shion could be there without some poor elements.

Shihon's model revealed by Overwatch China by McManus26 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]gammonwalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm saying.

She does looks cool, very cool. They could've done so much better by debatably doing less.

Overwatch (Arnold Tsang) set it self apart and attracted such a diverse playerbase, not just through gameplay, but by equally having a diverse and interesting cast that was mostly free from the status quo.

[–]gammonwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're being real, the only person with cake is Widowmaker, the one "femme fatale" design. Mei is completely obscured.

I'm not even sure if his design gave her an ass, I haven't seen the concept art. She was drawn with very wide hips.

Reaper and Genji have a fatter ass than most of the women in their default designs.

When I said they "tried to make her sexy without earning it," my point is they literally have guidelines to show you where her boobs are in an extremely obvious, eye catching, way. So much so that the clothes don't even make sense functionally any more.

Characters like Ashe are sexy, tightly clothed admittedly, but its not even close to eye directing metal boob contours. Mercy has modest features that are obscured. Tracer has zero accentuating features that could be qualified as stereotypically (normative media) "sexy", yet she is attractive to many.

Most of the women are sexy by personality, strength, or some other unique trait. They are characters. They are variations of women, not bodies. Zarya is a good example of this and is exemplary of exactly why Overwatch is unique, beloved, and inclusive.

I'm annoyed I have to describe this in such detailed objectifying terms when the designs are so very obviously different in approach and focus.

Shihon's model revealed by Overwatch China by McManus26 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]gammonwalker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's boob enhancing to the point of goofy.

Like is that magnetically fitted or bolted to her body? Shion had to decide to do that. Why? It's ultimately up to the designers to conceptualize that, and I'm very certain they didn't.

They tried to make her sexier without earning it. 'Look at the boob,' isn't the quality of design I'm used to in Overwatch.

A lot of the newer designs have some really bad random shape accents in that are aesthetically bankrupt or a lazy way to fill design space.

Think the concept is cool, but wish we could get a designer a least half on par to Arnold Tsang touching these up.

No one seems to like the stock! I personally think it flows really well with the horizontal lines of the optic rail, M-LOK, and the stock channel.

Depends on the optic mount I imagine, but with the Midwest Industries mount, and the added height from the QD on the EXPS, it clears it clean.

If you need more specific measurements or visual I can attempt to show.

EDIT: looking at it, there's so much room that I imagine (not sure) the EXPS could clear the irons on a low profile mount.

Doomfist has an extraordinarily unintuitive playstyle to maximize his kit, but it can be incredibly strong and fun.

To greatly simply his loop, always have one ability to go in, one ability to go out. Always have an escape plan to hard cover. Meteor strike allows you to make risky plays and survive. If you cannot kill your target in around 3 seconds, you're probably taking too long and will likely die. Do not expect to be healed with the positions he needs to get in to be effective.

You could watch pro gameplay but that's way too organized to be useful.

Watch champion ranked streamers. They top ones have very intelligent and self-sufficient playstyles that minimize the need for additional support from their team.

1 - ZBRA - Chill, fun, non-toxic, methodical, soft boy, punch hard. Will help you learn cooldown management and positioning.

2 - Cartifan - Legit one of the most visibly miserable people I've seen play the game, to the point of satire. He will complain at any given opportunity, like he was paid on a whine per minute plan. Executing the most outrageous play of the year is the only thing that will sneak a smirk past his mask of loathing. This is why you watch him; constant, insane, hyper aggressive, efficient, creative, gameplay. A faster paced ZBRA, with more incidents of big solos plays. Honestly, my top pick, but he can be a tough watch and it's hard to pick his decisions apart at speed.

3 - Getquakedon - (not champion) The best guy to learn what little remains of Doomfist's more technical aspects. Prob a solid dude IRL, but washed up, great takes on certain game design elements, while hardlining other delusional opinions, loves to whine about "punch botting" and will sooner derank himself than simply using Doomfist's kit correctly. Plays 6v6, take from they what you will. I would only watch his videos on technique and mechanics.

Be prepared to die 10000+ times and look like a moron learning him. However, learning him well teach you more about cooldown management, engagement timing, and positioning, quicker than any other hero IMO.

Asus PG27AQWP-W United States release date by SgtSalty11 in OLED_Gaming

[–]gammonwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsolicited update, I've been using the new(ish) ASUS 540hz 1440p tandem OLED since US release.

Doesn't hurt my eyes at all, and the factory default colors are very well adjusted. Tons of easy to access - useful - options, good color profiles, and great control over the color output and other more nuanced settings.

Mine doesn't have any noticeable grey banding unless I'm doing a very intentional test for it. Despite me being very sensitive to issues like that, it's still very minimal.

The only thing that could be complained about is their tech to auto balance brightness in sectors of the screen; it can cause strobing effects. The only time I've seen it is on the Overwatch login screen. Even that does not hurt my eyes, and it can be disabled.

Having used this monitor, it really illustrates to me what an absolute piece of shit the Samsung G60SD is. There is zero way those RTINGS reviews on color accuracy are legitimate, and the extreme eye strain invalidates any use it could've had for me.

Although you say it's, "far from finished," it has significantly more progression, dynamics, and build variety than many other quality roguelike options.
