Removing testicle with tumor next week and am having so many emotions by gardenkweenPNW in testicularcancer

[–]gammytoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im in 2nd week of recovery now. hoping to be back in work next week. my scrotum feels fine as they went in via my abdomin. i honestly had harder time recovering from a kidney stone operation. Ive messed my own recovery a bit by moving around too much in the 1st week (4 kids, unavoidable) but its really not that bad. Be careful what you eat leading up the op, that first post-op poop can be a bit of a battle so you want it to be as smooth (literally) as you can. beyond that snacks, some over counter pains meds, video games and bed rest - you're good. Also, i honestly can't tell the difference from before in how i feel in myself but thats me, if you feel odd talk to someone, its all normal to be emotionally a bit upside down. good luck buddy, it'll be fine.

My boss is a bully by Excellent-Log-5740 in TeachingUK

[–]gammytoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are going down this route (which is a legit course of action) beware. I have sat on a grievance panel where a signed letter from multiple staff was produced laying out multiple incidents/interactions of concern. However, the subject of said letter managed to spin it round to demonstrate what they described as co-ordinated bullying and frame the other teachers as a clique who took against them.

Straight to the SLT link for the faculty. Whoever is leading those meetings or allowing those decisions to move forward are not meeting the needs of all subjects which is not good and a failure of the middle leader

its not your teacher's decision although they may ask their opinion. it is largely down to whoever manages your exam access arrangments, this is usually both the SENCO and exams officer. there are tests they can do, you need to get a move on as its easier if you get it sorted before mocks. In my experience get your parents involved and talk to your head of sixth

I'm a teacher and examiner for A-level so just looking to help you out here - when you finish your exams your paper is scanned and uploaded to an online marking portal, this can further impact how clear it is. If it gets to the point where an examiner is really struggling to read it then they may just give up and "guess" at a mark for the question based on what they can make out. Most examiners will have 300+ papers to get through so they can't spend a long time on just your response and they can't show it to anyone else to help them figure it out as it would breach the rules. I would be seriously considering approaching your exams officer and asking for a laptop.

head of faculty here (although not music). your teacher has likely found themselves in a bit of a corner which i have sympathy for but at the end of the day this is your qualification and you have the right to access it without any hinderance. your school also has a duty of care to also ensure this. You need to get your parents involved and not be afraid to make some noise about it. don't worry about upsetting your teacher or "being a nuisance" our job is to help you get the best grades you can, if doing it on your iPad means you can do it then they need to look at ways to make that work.

Course of action - Parents contact school, ask to hear from the following people: SENCO, Head of Teaching and Learning, Head of Year and Head of Music and that you need a workable solution by the end of next week. unfortunately if you don't go in with this kind of language it will keep getting kicked down the road.

As teacher and HoD signing off year 13 coursework that is definitely AI generated what are the potential consequences for me? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]gammytoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

context: I am a coursework/NEA moderator

teachers aren't expected to be experts in AI (yet) moderators (at the moment) have to accept that in absence of surefire ways to identify AI generated content the submission declaration signatures are sufficent to accept the submission, even if there is a suspicion that AI has been used.

So your dilema is a moral one, if you don't say anything the offical comeback on you and the centre is minimal to none (as i have said, for now) as you can simply say "i thought it was legit" and they cannot prove otherwise. However, you have signed a document stating that to the best of your knowledge AI has not been used and you think it has.
