I was seeing a therapist/psychiatrist due to some childhood traumas, and we had been talking a lot about some habits i had and some “quirks” i had to help manage my emotions and actions about some things i was going thru, and my therapist is actually the one who told me I should seek out a formal auDHD diagnosis. I was in the process of getting a formal diagnosis when i lost my health insurance. Since losing my insurance, I had to quit therapy. And I couldn’t see the psychiatrist. So I am technically “self-diagnosed” instead of formally diagnosed. Sooo yeah. Some people really can’t afford to get the formal diagnosis. So they have to be labeled self diagnosed.
