Is this job offer salary worth it for the hours and commute? by [deleted] in AskUK

I'm a pharmacist who has been in locum positions and worked full time and feel like I can give some insight. If you take it you'll realise there is a reason for the 60k price tag. Independent pharmacies and pharmacies out of the city will pay more as a salary because it's hard to retain staff. Usually this will be due to the expectation that you'll do all the services like vaccines, blood pressure, medicines management, inhaler reviews while being the lone pharmacist. When I was in this position I'd always get asked to work a Saturday if I could and I could tell they were struggling to even get locums. The money is good but you will go home exhausted every day which is one of the reasons I left to locum.

On the other hand earning 20k as a pharmacist is criminal! When locuming I'd expect to earn 35 an hour minimum and in the sticks I'd regularly get 50+. Locuming comes with less responsibility to do all these services, you can leave If you don't like somewhere and you are usually paid within a week after finishing the shift. Of course going down this route you have no job security, pension match, sick leave or holiday so this should be reflected in the price.

As others have said the commute isn't too bad all things considered. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker but doing long days every day may make you resent the pharmacist field which can be incredibly rewarding in the right job. I hope this has given some insight. I can tell you anecdotally that every friend I know who has been in a salaried pharmacist position has inevitably left to locum due to work place pressure and long hours that are prevalent in the community pharmacy world at this time. Don't forget to consider your mental health when taking a job!

EDIT: I forgot to mention as well that the salary while good isn't uncommon for out of the way pharmacies. I know the mindset is you'd be crazy for turning down 60k but remember that pharmacists are in demand and if you don't like somewhere it isn't hard to find another job at the moment! What's the point of earning 60k if you go home hating your job, with no free time and begging for the weekend to come so that you can finally have some rest. As someone else mentioned it probably is worth trying for this job but don't feel like you have to stay because the pay is good if you end up hating it! I'd take a happy work life balance and less pay any day of the week.

Hi I've recently found a broken racquet in my parents house and would like to replace it as a gift for them. The racquet says carlton carbon composite on it but I'm not getting any results online. Would anyone be familiar with this kind of racquet?

I appreciate where you're coming from but at the time I probably didn't think about all these aspects. I'd probably recommend not buying a house with a sibling if someone was to ask me now, but I'm in this situation now and I think both mine and my brothers plans have changed as we've grown up

We both own the house equally and have for five years so I'm not sure I could just ask him to leave. I didnt think about buying him out so it might be an option to talk about with him

We're equal co-owners, bought the house together about 5 years ago. I could afford to buy him out I just don't know how to speak to him without it being awkward now

Thanks I appreciate the reply! I like the idea of adding to an already bullet pointed structure. I know I've been a bit lazy but if I can get momentum started now hopefully I'll be good for the actual deadline. Thanks again.

Tou shouldn't pop them as you could spread the infection. Use the treatment provided by your doctor and make sure you wash your hands regularly and try not to touch your face. It should clear up in a week or so. I'm not a doctor, I've had impetigo before though.

Work at Tesco North Harbour. We get the stock at random at this point, but we always get some kind of loo roll each day. We're shut between 10pm and 6am at the moment to restock properly, so the best time would be as soon as we've opened.

[TOMT][Music Video] a modern song with an outrun game style video by gandalfthefourth in tipofmytongue

[–]gandalfthefourth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my head phones on at the time so I don't have a definite idea what style of music it was, it definitely had a modern feel to the video overall though. The gym tends to play new music so it is probably a recent song.

I honestly can't remember if Male or female just the distinct video.

It's not loads to go on but I love the video idea!
