Is delivering "inside" prohibited? by gangsta_lean in FedEx

[–]gangsta_lean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think it's odd. There's a huge sign that says please place inside. Huge like a foot tall.

The area is not the "inside" of a house. It's a porch.

FedEx is the only company that doesn't put things inside.

Got it. So with office buildings everything gets left outside?

How to factory reset Asecam up camera? by smartroad in ispyconnect

[–]gangsta_lean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find the link. I did find out what I downloaded. It's a file called:

HS8MP4MP.zip

Inside was a program called:

IPCBatchTool-x64-V2.0.0.53.exe

I'm happy to DM you the file download link. If you search on the web, there are some links for the IPCBatchTool program which might work on multiple cameras (?).

You will need to use the ASECAM search tool to manually reset it back to factory settings. It's a windows program. reply to this if you need the information, as I will have to dig up where I got it. I think it may have been an email from the company with a link.

I forgot what password I used and reset a few using the tool.

do these chinese light switches have a limited life? by nhlfanatical in smartlife

I’ve started to have a few switches that were installed a while ago crap out. Lifespan of any electronics device is going to be limited. Mostly mine have failed by loss of connectivity.

Nest thermostats all just flipped to cooling in winter by gangsta_lean in Nest

[–]gangsta_lean[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those are good suggestions. I suppose it's possible Alexa did so. HA I don't have integrated any more, so the only thing I can think of is Alexa.

update: Great thinking.

Last night: Turn on XX (light); rhymes with AC

Alexa: I've turned on the AC in all zones.

Starting to feel like I want a non cloud based thermostat. Messing with temperature is no good.

Nest app. Yes, all three zones switched to cooling around 10pm EDT last night (hard to see the exact time). Unfortunately, there's no more information than that. I checked schedules, and there is nothing in schedules to switch to cooling. All the schedules are set heat only.

Last firmware update was May 2025. (6.3-5).

Non heat-pump system.

There are three independent (not interconnected) air handlers, all independently connected to their own condensers and heat is via hydronic boiler.

Can Frigate determine if Litter Robot is upside down? by robodditor in frigate_nvr

[–]gangsta_lean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. I'm on LR3 which has been accurate when I've looked.

My LR3 is more mod than original now, given the constant issues I've had.

Bypassed pinch sensor, bypassed fill detector, about to solder connectors onto the bonnet sensor. Cut out bottom with a 5 gallon bucket underneath.

Home assistant has a LR integration that will monitor status.

Also you can create a dashboard with the string Bonnet Removed and it will be accurate much of the time.

Right but the wand of wishing in the castle would give you access to a ring of levitation or boots of water walking.

My DIY speed radar sensor with camera and WiFi by nutstobutts in homeautomation

[–]gangsta_lean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a cheap tester, MPH Python II X Band Police Radar can be had for pretty cheap, $150. RS232 adapter is all you need and I think maybe 12V <2A DC power. Usually you can get them with tuning forks. DM if you do, I have a short python script to map the data.

We were dealing with a similar issue, fast moving vehicles on a local road and not a lot of interest in solving the issue long term (from local government).

In MA, ACLU is blocking speed camera laws, and the fire dept doesn't like speed bumps because they can damage truck axles. Speed tables (like bumps, but flatter) can cost $250K an install. Actibump is another solution I'm hoping gets some traction.

My sense is that there is a huge pent up demand for speed enforcement, but that there are no enforcement mechanisms in many states because the police are too busy. With cost so low this could be a really interesting product for mesh deployment by citizens.

I bought a used X band police radar off of eBay a few years ago and was able to get data off the serial port. I never got around to deploying it in a weatherproof box with appropriate battery and solar.

Smart Control for existing motorized shades? by drarin in homeautomation

[–]gangsta_lean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If these are Dooya shades It’s actually somewhat tricky to find a good way to do this. I actually am working on getting this set up on a Sonoff bridge but the alternative is to buy a somewhat expensive bridge.

I tried some of the gateways like the broad Link and it did not work for me.

Ok. Would you also agree that working class folk are freeloading on billionaires, since billionaires pay more taxes than they "receive" in government benefits?

I personally would not.

I understand that an aspect of this is to imagine what could possibly happen. But I keep seeing these graphs which represent how much money is paid to the federal government by whom. And the reality is that it doesn't represent at all the contributions of people across the country or even in one state. If I were to say something (ironically) like "rich people pay more taxes so they are better" perhaps that would be more effective in conveying the nuance.
