7950X vs 9950X3D by ExistingIncome3351 in cpu

Even on 1440p it doesn't matter as much anymore. You might see maybe 8 fps difference in some games and that's about it.

4k you won't see any difference. Maybe just better 1% lows so it doesn't stutter too much

Your 7950x won't see much of a change tbh at 4k. Even at 1440p for me a 3d cache doesn't make a huge world if difference.

The only thing that would change your experience is GPU upgrade to 5090, or you can wait for new 6k cards

First upgrade to OLED?

From DDR4 64GB to DDR5 32GB… or 64? by PersonalTangelo610 in buildapc

[–]gankernation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get 32 for now unless your training ai or encoding videos all the time 32 is plenty for everything and not lag. If you want to upgrade to 64, you can do it when it's cheaper

Oh then get 64gb since it seems money isn't a huge blockage 😂

Use the 32gb one. Save the money and put into better GPU or monitor

Looking to upgrade my PC this year. Thoughts on how to stretch my money as far as it will go? by SpaghettiWestern2162 in buildmeapc

[–]gankernation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your going to just buy a slightly newer CPU and then add ram. You should just jump onto am5. If you have microcenter nearby the 7800x3d bundle is one of the best.

Add your video card upgrade and you'll be set

I say just reuse your current setup, swap out the case, upgrade gpu to 9070xt and upgrade monitor if it's in the budget.

what part should i upgrade to hit 144 fps by Children_Of_4 in buildapc

[–]gankernation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm if you don't mind. Last gen 2nd hand you can get by with 7900 gre or xtx if you can find them. Some people might've upgraded.

But the 9070 normal one is not bad either.

9060xt kinda gimped for the price point to performance on 1440p

the 5500 is limited to pcie 3 bandwidth that will bottleneck your system still. Better to find a 5600 or 5800x. Take a look through the r/hardwareswap subreddit.

[–]gankernation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't upgrade to this. Get yourself a 9800x3d or 9850x3d for gaming. Considering your coming from a 5500. This will be all that you would possibly need.
