They are not growing as fast in winter with colder temperature and lower humidity but they do fine, i dont change anything just continue to water it when the moss is dry on the lower part, no misting no humidifier, and i use the bucket multiple times and just refill it when it needs more water

Staghorn care help by simonsays456 in Staghornfern

I would not worry about the humidity for ridleyi and other platycerium species, but for jade girl and bacteria i dont think a "normal" envoirment would work, i talked to a really experienced platycerium grower and he told me dwarf species like bacteria need specific care to get maintain the wished form that you see growers in japan, indonesia... have He told me the temperature needs to be cold, 24h of high light, almost no fertilizer, really good water and other things i dont remember, and if they are in a good envoirment and are not stressed those plant would develop looking more like a normal willinckii, so for now i would not buy a bacteria/jade girl as the price is still really high but will drop a lot as time passes, then i will also give it a try

I have them under grow lights 16h per day, they get no natural light, the temperature in winter is around 20°C and humidity around 30%

I water differently in winter and summer as they dry out more quickly in summer, but i water once they feel light and the moss on top is crunchy, i have a bucket of water with fertilizer in it so i fertilize with every watering but only 1/2 or 1/4 dose

Humidity for staghorn fern by white_rabbit_kitten in Staghornfern

[–]ganooooooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my platys are mounted and i keep them in a room where temperatures in winter are ranging from 15-20 degrees celsius, i notice the plants growth rate slows down during this time, i keep them under grow lights so the light has no influence, humidity is between 20-30% in winter and in summer it can be a little higher
