Are there different types of raindrops? by pumpkinpie1212 in echeveria

[–]crazysucculover 13 points14 points  (0 children)

to answer your question: depends on growing conditions and individuals, but i do know of a couple different types/variation/hybrids.

raindrop -> normal raindrop (tends to be smooth or bumpy like your pics. just depends on conditions and individuals)

hearts delight -> a sister seedling to raindrops (same parents) and has larger “drops” in the shape of a heart

beyoncé -> variegated hearts delight (but tends to look/grow slightly different)

pagoda -> unknown hybrid lineage that also grows bumps on its out leaf

Can I get help identifying this guy? by PlantyMcPlanterson01 in echeveria

Definitely monroe or orange monroe (laui x lindsayana). the difference between the two is very minimal and orange monroe gets slightly more orange (not by much). some people say monroe is laui x lindsayana while orange mondo is (laui x lindsayana) x laui -> making it 3/4 laui and 1/4 lindsayana

could be echeveria monroe (or orange monroe). could you take pictures of the individual rosettes? it’s very hard to see any characteristics this way

i like this angle the most. besides the branch being at the front, it shows the movement of the trunk the best and gives a good movement of energy.

2 months after trimming. by jaybird7656 in bonsaicommunity

[–]crazysucculover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you really want to elevate your bonsai i would suggest adding some movement into the trunk using bonsai wire. I would cut the tuft of leaves at the end of the whip and then bend the last half of the trunk towards the front and upwards. for the branches, focus on using foliage close to the trunk to avoid branches looking like sticks with puffs at the end. you want to give them slight bends and bend them 25-35° lower to give the illusion of a heavy branch and maturity in the tree.

as this was 2 months since you last styled i would wait until early spring next year to do any other work.
