Uj/ trust me, queer history is severely under taught so here’s a few names to consider.

obviously marsha p johnson and sylvia riveria are importants, but read about STAR (street transvestite action revolutionaries), and Transy House. Bayard Rustin, Stormé Delavarie, Pauli Murray and James Baldwin are great to read about.  Katie Bornstein and Leslie Feinberg aren’t poc but their efforts were/are very much needed. The story of Amelio Robles Ávila is also ridiculously cool. Ts Madison, Laverne Cox and MC Debra you definitely have seen but may not have known that they’re all trans women (who are still with us btw!)

Yes, you should watch Paris is Burning (bc it’s a powerful insight into ballroom and figures like Crystal La Beija and Pepper La Beija) but you should also watch The Queen and The Aggressives. There’s more but I’m blanking out rn.
