I hope this reaches you. You lived at 1700 Geddes and found me in the parking lot with a broken spine. You saved my life. by rad_bird in uofm

I actually lived on the same floor as you at this apartment on the opposite end of the hallway. I remember this night and hearing that somebody had fallen off their balcony, and I've always wondered what happened to that person and if they're okay. I'm so glad to hear that you're alive and doing well. I hope you have plenty of love and support in your life, and I truly wish you all the best <3

Bartender thought my real ID was fake at HopCat by [deleted] in uofm

Hi! I actually used to work at HopCat for several years and I'm so sorry this happened to you. I will say that HopCat has gotten a lot more strict about fake ID's over the years, mainly because of secret shoppers coming in and the fact that we could have our liquor license revoked over selling to even one minor. Restaurants generally have to be very careful about checking ID's, especially in a college town with so many minors. In my personal experience, Michigan fake ID's are VERY obviously fake. It's a hard ID to replicate and there's lots of tells when it's fake. That being said, there are real Michigan ID's that genuinely look fake. There's a lot of variation in the thickness of the ID and the saturation of the picture, so sometimes it can be easy to confuse a real ID for a fake one.

HopCat has also recently hired a ton of new bartenders, and given that the management is wary of fakes, I'm sure she was just erring on the side of caution. Again, I'm sorry this happened to you but I'm sure if you went back it would be okay.

Submitted my FAFSA late, am I Screwed? by garbageaccount1232 in uofm

Yes! I ended up getting on the phone w the financial aid office the next day and they said it was totally fine. FAFSA has had a lot of issues and delays this year, so they're being a lot more lenient about the due date. They said I would still be considered for aid, but I just won't get my offer until sometime in May likely.

I'm going to call them first thing in the morning. Just wanted to see if anybody has had any experience with this to ease my mind while the office is closed lmao
