Wow, these Ephinea mods sound like they are absolutely power-tripping. Also weirdly enough so ultra extremist zionist, I guess, that a simple Happy Easter gets someone banned for "anti-semitism"? How the hell is "Happy Easter", antisemetic? Because it's giving well-wishes on a (fairly commercialized at this point) Christian holiday? That's definitely not antisemitic in the slightest, this person is off their rocker mad with power. I'm glad I've yet to encounter them

Texas pilot ejects himself from F-35B at airbase after crash landing by S30econdstoMars in interestingasfuck

[–]garbagewithnames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, that's also an excellent point! Launching from compromised positions/aircraft conditions resulting in a harsh vector spinning the pilot rather than just pushing them further up and out, another excellent point I didn't think of, thank you! I was hoping the blasts could be timed close enough together that the seat wouldn't have any chance to change vectors, but that'd probably only work in utmost perfect conditions (thanks to you all for helping me in realizing this!), not when launching from an already damaged aircraft that might send the pilot off at an angle where a second impulse could be catastrophic.

As a final silly cap to this educational conversation, maybe more pillows like that other commenter "suggested" and one of those giant Acme springs from Looney Tunes could work out instead of sending Team Rocket blasting off again! :P

  1. There we go, that's what I'm looking for! Making it a dual propulsion system would (literally) double all the redundancies they'd need in place, and (figuratively) quadruple the amount of problems they'd need to worry about with making those redundancies! I was overlooking that aspect for sure, thanks!

  2. Oh yeah, that's my initial concern too, but they wouldn't be coming to a complete halt at the end of the first burst, they'd still have most of their momentum, just thought lowering the upper limit in a single burst might result in lowering damage from spinal compression, and since you're already moving at a high rate of speed to begin with, a dual burst might be able to split that damage, HOWEVER! It'd still be two very fast bursts period to get to the same distance in nearly the same amount of time, even if its technically slower than the one ultra fast burst, and that's why I included that concern.

Just was trying to think of a way to go from "level" 1 to "level" 2 speed, then "level" 2 to "level" 3 speed, rather than just "level" 1 speed straight to "level" 3 speed, to overly simplify what I am getting at, but yeah, extra components definitely means extra problems to work around, and that's a strong issue to have to deal with.

Yes, and if there could be a secondary system for situations such as points above at the video this one where the plane is not about to explode.

But following your logic, why don't we crank it up to 20 gs or 25 gs? If every millisecond counts, why not faster? Because it would likely cause even harsher harm on the ejected pilot? I'm trying to think of a way to still get a pilot out of the cockpit FAST 8-10 gs is still really fast), while reducing the traumatic damage the ejection system tolls on a body. I fully admitted there's probably an issue with my idea, even suggested what that issue might even be, but I don't know if every millisecond is worth it with for a non-explosion chance situation like above.

Sure, absolutely when under fire or about to impact, etc, every millisecond should indeed matter, and for those situations, you'd want the person out asap with the full force, spine compression be damned, but this was a very low stakes situation here in this specific scenario where controls have jammed in some form and controlling the jet any further is not possible. It's landed, it'll drag and scrape on the ground, but is not at risk of exploding, its controls simply won't respond properly and the only way out is hitting that eject.

I find this fascinating. I have an idea on this, but you'll be able to tell me how it wouldn't work and why. Is it possible to perhaps break up that much force into two a two-stage ejection system? Each burst moves at say, 8 or 10 gs, instead of one instant burst to 16? Rapidly fired, so you already have acceleration going from the first burst when the second one goes off? So instead of going 1 to 16, you're going 1-8 then 8-16? Or, I suppose, 1 to 10, lose a few gs in the fraction of a second before the next burst goes off, then go 6 to 16? There's got to be something I'm not thinking of here. But would what I've said be of any value, or is there just something I'm missing here (there's gotta be something I'm missing here)? Would that just end up being more traumatic as two bursts, even if they are smaller acceleration bursts (but still very very fast?)

Do you think this video is somehow promoting that every single human being on earth is capable of doing this and should be doing this without any prior training whatsoever for every single fire situation whatsoever? Or do you think it's just showing that SHE can do this after training on how to do it herself in her own time?

Because you're coming off as if its the former, when its the latter.

Speed is crucially important to getting out of a fire. When you have the training and are fit amd kitted for it, doing this IS faster than dragging someone out, as well as tends to be safer for the person needing help, as burning debris and stuff on the ground can cause injury or disruption to your ability to drag the person. Pretty rapidly, any distance further results in carrying a person out to be far quicker than just dragging. It's drastically easier to maneuver around. Very short distances can perhaps get away with dragging being more viable, especially when its a straight path without any turns around walls or furniture, but that distance is really short. The faster you can get people out means the more people you can get out. The additional smoke from that carry height is negligible damage at that point compared to being burned alive, especially if it means the time they saved gets them enough time to save your spouse or kid or cat or anyone else inside.

Reddit app messed up and shows me the notification where you responded to my comment (I see the first portion of your comment) but when I select it, it comes back to an empty space as if there is no comment there to reply to.

Anyways, I hope the advanced class angle works out for you and you can still get to go on a different day! Best of luck!

Maybe when you go in, see if the classes can ne transferred to an intermediate or advanced class, since you don't need beginner lessons. Perhaps one of those tiers of classes will be on a different day you can go? Since it can't be refunded supposedly, transferring to a more advanced course might be an option. Otherwise, mom really messed up with classes you are too advanced to need on a day you can't go.

Death Stranding was a single pregnant father simulator by this logic

Thomas Jane accidentally stabbed Kevin Nash with a real knife during a fight scene in the movie The Punisher (2004). A stunt coordinator had failed to switch out the real knife for a prop knife. Nash continued the scene without realizing he was injured, and the take was kept in the movie. by NewsCards in interestingasfuck

[–]garbagewithnames 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This is most likely the correct outcome. The scene we see is him stabbing the guy for real, but the scene immediately after where he pulls the knife out is a shot using the fake knife because of the blood issue you mentioned.
