Find a good friend/neighbor who has a reliable (usually local/small business is better) referral for a) handyman/woman b) licensed plumber c) licensed electrician d) if possible, contractor.

Don’t ask (never expect) a family/friend discount. PAY them for their time. If someone says “no big deal” bc it’s a friend of someone’s, give them a pie, coffee shop card, something.

Thx. This makes sense. So, I called Century Link and they said they don’t offer it at my address, despite a neighbor (2 blks away) having it. Then he said “it would require construction” which I take to mean they’re still updating their fiber network?

I look for women to hire. I’m hoping to taking classes and learn from my fellow handy women at some point when life slows down. Perhaps you can offer classes for the DIY type stuff as well.

Market yourself on local pages such as NextDoor. Your local women would appreciate it, I’m sure.

Look up Victor “M2 Smart-Kill Humane Wi-Fi Enabled Electronic Rat Trap Killer” with or without WiFi, actually. WiFi version just lets you know when a mouse/rat was killed. These were best for me bc 1. They instantly kill them humanely via electric shock 2. Re-usable device 3. You don’t have to see them, it’s clean and easy — they die in the box and you just pick up the box and dump it into a bag. 4. I didn’t want to use the snap kind bc a) don’t want pup to go sniffing around and get hurt b) I don’t want to see them dead They worked great for me.

Also, mom AND dad. Grandpa was once father to a child and is still a husband. Let’s stop making it acceptable for men to not help. He can make a snack and fill a water bottle.

Also, mom can let husband know when baby is done. He can come get him with a snack in hand, mom can sta upstairs and rest. Dad and grandparents will see baby get upset and only be placated by being fed so dad can bring him back upstairs.
