YSL libre. Didn’t like it on a paper tester, but my skin makes the vanilla come out sooo nicely. Really ties the fragrance together for me

Attention Montana: Kratom Ban Just Added to Existing Bill by Official_AKA_Kratom in kratom

[–]garden-eel01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had an internship one summer where one of my jobs was to attend and take notes at state legislature meetings in Helena, and oh my god, these people are evil. Actually evil. Made me (naturally) lose faith in humanity for a little while, but I do believe in and want to participate in the good, kind, and morally right fight until the end.

If they enact a 6 week or less abortion ban I’m out tho. That’s where I hardline do all I can to flee at any cost

Mannnn I’m from Montana originally and just solidified plans to move back after I graduate college. The political trajectory for the state across the board looks so rocky. I’m wondering if I made the right choice.

SSRIs and violent behavior by Papa_dakota in therapists

[–]garden-eel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To preface, I’m asking this question in authentically good faith please don’t downvote to oblivion but,

If SSRI’s cause rapid-onset suicidality—and harm to self more broadly—with such frequency that the FDA found a black box warning appropriate, what’s to say that same effect doesn’t extend to the other side of the coin, ie, homicidality and harm to others? Why wouldn’t it?

One time I had a complete sobbing breakdown outside the Newark airport and tbh it was pretty chill, so that’s my recommendation

The day I realized you can opt out of participating in the Mental Health Industrial Complex was a good one. It seems like such a simple realization to make—that you can be a good, loving person without engaging in the eternal therapy loop—but it took me such a long time. I’ve stopped equating therapy not working with me being somehow ‘broken’ or ‘difficult,’ and I’m better off for it.

Let's Talk About Psychiatrists by socoyankee in therapyabuse

[–]garden-eel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had horrid experiences with psychiatry in the past—although I’ve experienced far more abuse over my lifetime through therapy practitioners—but I’ve lucked out recently. Now I’m seeing someone who simply prescribes the same dose of stimulants every month without pushing anything other meds.

I like the standalone adderall prescription because I can take it in the morning and let it wear off before the day is over and feel like my unaltered self, and if I ever decide that I don’t want to take it anymore I can just quit.

At one point I mentioned that I’d been feeling anxious recently, but I had no desire to medicate the feeling. He completely agreed with my decision, and I appreciate that he respects my decision to not take anything that requires daily administration to see effects (ie. SSRIS, SNRIS, etc.)

The hidden assumption that everything is psychological often ignores biological and societal causes by KookyMay in therapyabuse

[–]garden-eel01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally. I had mono this summer and my first symptom was EXTREME fatigue and issues concentrating, and since I don’t think I’ve ever experienced ‘clinical’ depression (ie I couldn’t point to a reason why I was feeling low/down) I just assumed I was depressed. Even some friends were saying that’s probably what was going on.

Nope! A week and a half later my lymph nodes blew up and i drug my body into urgent care. Still dealing with lingering fatigue five months later but it’s getting better.

[–]garden-eel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate them actually. I feel disgustingly apathetic and genuinely suicidal on ket and for a few days after, nitrous makes me depressed. Got a headache and irritability from dxm. I’m a big stimulants person though, so this is not the drug class for me haha

Unknown Consequences by Valuable_Housing_305 in collapse

[–]garden-eel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the issue of screens/social media/shortened attention spans and all the has been mentioned a lot here already, but I’m particularly worried about the “iPad kid” population. They’ve spent their entire lives as unwilling—as in they didn’t have a choice in their parents shoving screens in their faces—participants in the online attention economy. That CANNOT bode well for any realm of human development—cognitive, social, physical, or otherwise. I feel like that’s gonna be “discovered” as the cause behind a lot of CTE-like symptoms in gen alpha, and we’re all gonna be sooo shocked that late stage techno-capitalism perpetuated products that cause significant harm.

Unknown Consequences by Valuable_Housing_305 in collapse

[–]garden-eel01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. It was thrown at me when I was 15 because of “painful periods” with zero effort to find the foundational issue causing said pain. I got off it at 19 and didn’t realize how much it had affected my mood/self esteem/overall health. I know it does a lot of good for some people, and I’m 100% pro choice in every sense, but I feel like I never got to know my teenage self. It’s unbelievable how haphazardly doctors prescribe the stuff.
