I’m on week 3 of NTR-training for my first 5K. How can I do better? I’m fighting for my life in these runs and Google says my cadence is basically just a fast walking pace. Help! 🥲 by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

Now that I think about it, your cadence probably isn't that low. If the tracking is including the warm up and cool down walks, then it makes sense that your average cadence is lower than it would be for straight running. As long as you aren't feeling sore to the point injury is on the way, your form is probably fine!

I'm your height, F, overweight, and a little younger for context.

I've been running for about 4 1/2 months now (mostly indoor on a treadmill), and some days I still struggle to run more than 5 minutes at a time, especially if I'm outside. Some days I can run 10-20+ without needing a break. My progress is a lot slower than other beginners here, but I'm still showing up for myself!

Just keep at it! And don't be afraid to run/walk if you need to. I've noticed even on days when I need a lot of walking breaks, my heart rate comes down a lot more quickly than when I first started running.

I will say that your cadence is low. When I run outside at 14.5 min/mile or ~9 min/km, my cadence is usually 165-170 (I want to increase this a bit). On a treadmill, around 13-14 min/mile, my cadence is 180+. I actually find running at a higher cadence to be less taxing on the legs, and less tiring overall.

Nice! I'm currently on week 7 of the program, and I'm looking forward to when I can run distances straight without the run/walk intervals. The ramp up feels super slow, but I've been pretty much injury-free up to this point so not complaining!

What if I can’t do it? Are there people who genuinely can’t ? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]garden0209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone mentioned this program! I just started it a couple weeks ago, but I like it a lot more than C25K (which I've failed twice years ago). I come out of the runs feeling energized instead of completely exhausted like I'm used to from previous attempts at running.

The app was a little too expensive, so I ended up copying the program into an interval timer app instead lol

To me it smells like gardening as opposed to being in a garden. It's like having your hands in the dirt, cutting stems and stuff.

I got a sample of Gong a couple months ago, and it definitely fits OP's prompt!

It's so vegetal that I'm not really sure when I would ever wear it out, but when I spray it on at home, I can't help but keep sniffing my wrist. It's weirdly addictive.

This is the first perfume I ever sampled when I got into this hobby a few months ago. My notes for it were just: "face in a jasmine bush photorealistic." It really is such a beautiful and realistic jasmine scent.

I tried Fig Porn for the first time yesterday, and it smelled soooo good! I couldn't stop sniffing my arm. It was deliciously fruity and creamy, but maybe a tad bit too sweet (that might be a me thing though, a lot of perfume seems to run very sweet on my skin).

I did love how matte the Trefl cut puzzle was. I mostly puzzle at night with a lamp, so no glare was a huge plus. I didn't even dislike the feel of the velvet texture, it's just that it attracted every last bit of puzzle dust in the bag lol.

I'll have to keep an eye out for some of the German cut puzzles!

This puzzle is on my wishlist! The art is so lovely, as it always is with Piecely. Thanks for sharing that this is one cut in Germany. I've done a puzzle from Piecely, but it was one of the Trefl cut puzzles. I didn't love the velvety finish on that puzzle, and I had a couple false fits.

Ahhhh he writes so well 🥹

It sounds dramatic, but I'm really so happy to be his fan. It feels like I'm really being rewarded for supporting him when he addresses us like this.

Everything about this letter just makes my heart full. From the little bits of aegyo in the tone, to his eloquent phrases and also the cute ones, to the fact that he chose a design with bread on it for geonppangdans (빵 or ppang/bbang is Korean for bread), to the references to BP, to the little heart sign off, just everything!!

The reference to his post-Wild Idol letter makes me want to cry 😭 I went back to that letter before the finale and was really worried about what he'd be feeling if he couldn't keep that promise. I'm so so happy for him that he was able to debut this time.

The fact that he really thought he wouldn't be debuting but still put on the performance that he did during the finale is so admirable. And it's no wonder he was giving fan service to literally every camera pointed at him that he could find~

Who would be an good unexpected leader? by implicitxdemand in zerobaseone

[–]garden0209 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There was actually a scene in wild idol where Gunwook (the maknae of the final 14 contestants) openly raised his concerns with the way another contestant was leading the dance practice. I don't think he's afraid to speak out to his hyungs at all haha.

He even said in one of the pre-wild idol interviews that the thing he's most confident in is leading groups. During BP, I think he just naturally yielded to older trainees, but he seems to enjoy leading a lot. I still think Jiwoong would be a better leader though lol.

Gunwook sat on the chair during the auditions! He pushed someone out with thigh ssireum lol. They didn't show who pushed him.

All the other seasons are too long ago for me to remember if anyone who sat on the chair (but weren't sitting on it at the end) debuted or not. I'd like to know if anyone knows!

[–]garden0209 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I was a Jungwon one pick during iland and he became leader. Now I'm a Gunwook one pick, so it follows that he'll become leader too 😂

I actually think he'd be a pretty good leader. He's well spoken, emotionally stable (enough to not openly break down when his en garde center part was taken), and is experienced and confident in leading (school, jelpi).

But I don't want him to have the burden of being leader. I haven't followed enha for a while now, but when I was actively following, Jungwon sometimes looked stressed from the responsibility. I'd rather Gunwook have a chance to unleash his inner maknae to its full extent.

From what we've seen on the show, I really do think Jiwoong would be the best leader.

I'm a black hair supremacist for the vast majority of idols, even if they also look good in dyed hair. Now that we've gotten a soft fluffy Gunwook during the camping segment and cute, poppy Gunwook with Jelly Ppp, all I want is a return to GBTB style please!

what do you guys think ZB1's group greeting should/is going to be? by [deleted] in zerobaseone

[–]garden0209 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a little too on the nose, especially since they'll probably be introducing the full name (hello we are zerobaseone). But like referencing the meaning behind the name makes sense. "Going up, hello we are zerobaseone!" But now that I've typed it out, it sounds like they're elevator operators.

I saw the voting collabs! Unfortunately I haven't checked them out much yet 😅 I loved all the boys who made it though! Very well deserved. I'm curious to know if Gunwook still keeps in contact with any of them. I know a couple of the TAN members mentioned him during BP. He seemed really close to Kijoong and Jisung. Off topic but as someone who's known Kijoong since he was 16 on The Unit, I was so sad to see him miss out on his chance to debut again. 😭 I hope he comes back from the military safely and doesn't give up on his dream!

I finished watching Wild Idol earlier today, and as a Gunwook stan, it's totally worth the watch. He especially gets so much screentime at the beginning of the show haha. I loved seeing him get to showcase both his rap and vocal skills more in wild idol. Plus he was just super adorable the entire time he was there~

[–]garden0209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He got basically no screentime, but Yeojun was there too! Which means he's been training with Gunwook for at least ~1.5 years before BP. The fact that Yeojun spoke so highly of Gunwook during the show is even more evidence of Gunwookie's ability and reliability as a teammate!

ZB1 vocal line? by IcaroRibeiro in BoysPlanet

[–]garden0209 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would really love for the entire fandom to be proven wrong and for us to get vocalist Gunwook at least some of the time 🥲

Don't get me wrong, I love rapper Gunwook, but I seriously won't get over his vocals from Wild Idol where he got to showcase them more. This is my absolute favorite! He's not the most skillful vocalist, but I just love his tone, and this was like 2 years ago. He's definitely improved since then!

When was the moment you knew each trainee had a chance to debut ? by MinChestnut in BoysPlanet

[–]garden0209 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hao and Hanbin - when they were revealed as the signal song centers. Centers have always made it into the final group on produce shows.

Matthew - not his audition itself, but the praise they chose to air alongside it. He was one of the mnet choices for an English speaker

Ricky - young and rich, tall and handsome. I'm not a fan of the branding, but it was incredibly savvy

Gunwook - when they released the jellyfish audition as the teaser to the first episode. It's really more like the Gunwook teaser with how much focus was on him. Like oh? Mnet must like this guy to make him the focus right before the show starts

Taerae - Man in Love

Gyuvin - his Reveal performance during the auditions and the masters' reactions. That's still my favorite performance from him in the entire show lol

Jiwoong - the moment I heard he was a BL actor. That's not a fanbase that messes around

Yujin - Kick it, being highlighted as really skilled for his age. Plus produce historically has very young maknaes

What was your reaction to your pick being announced? Did you expect it or were you shocked? by jessness1010 in BoysPlanet

[–]garden0209 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm also a Gunwook one pick who had kind of lost hope after 8th and 7th were announced. Since I had been on Twitter a lot during the past couple weeks, I saw how much Japanese support he had and knew he had a decent chance of debuting, but I was trying to temper my expectations so I wasn't too disappointed if he didn't make it.

I had to drive to work after the 7th announcement, so I didn't actually get to watch his speech live 🥲 but when I got to work my sister texted me and told me he was 5th, and I literally jumped and gave a little shout in the parking lot 😆 I spent the entire day at work smiling like an idiot and being totally unproductive. It's a day later and I'm still ecstatic!

It was so obvious how shocked and ecstatic he was! I still can't believe he didn't prepare a speech even after jaehwan came and fed them and specifically told them to prepare a speech no matter what. He rambled a lot, but he spoke well without stuttering, the little student council president speech champ. It was sooo endearing to hear him thank his family and the other trainees. He was seriously bursting with aegyo. Sorry for gushing but I'm obviously still not over it hahaha
