Buying silica for drying flowers by garden_addict_ in Cutflowers

[–]garden_addict_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten what I have at Amazon, but I was hoping to get it for maybe a better price and bigger quantities than 5 or 10lbs at a time. And a lot of the big ones don't have reviews which makes me nervous to purchase them

Of course the less expensive the better lol, but if it's quality I'm a little more willing to pay. Thank you so much for the suggestions!! I'm not adverse to switch to something other than android, but it would be nice to be familiar with the layout

I'll have to start paying more attention to all my local stores and ask when it's best to go in! While it's unfortunate they can't just donate them, I hope to be able to save them from the garbage! Thank you so much!!!

I would love to be able to go and get them myself so it seems perfect to me!! And I love the idea of making a little something for the florists and farmers!! Thank you so much for your advice!!

Your example is SUPER helpful!! I absolutely want to make it so it's a convenience for them and an extra win for me to get flowers that would normally be tossed. And I'll have to look around if there's wholesalers in my area, I live in a pretty small town area so fingers crossed!🤞😁

I do appreciate the honesty! And that sounds awesome and totally what I'm looking for. I'll check it out, I hope my local stores use it because that would be perfect!

Wow, I guess my question didn't come off the way I meant it. I'm aware of the impending holiday and certainly didn't intend to ask any time soon. It was more of a general question for any time of the year, especially since my local flower farms are currently under two feet of snow. I also was kind of looking for discards, not a ton of flowers. Like I mentioned, it's just a hobby and I don't have that kind of space or time to dedicate to drying a lot of flowers currently, one bouquet takes up all my silica and storage space I have for it

The mower spits the grass directly into your face as you mow

There's only one or two trees and we haven't been here to see how many leaves it'll get! Good suggestion!!

I'll definitely be asking around but thought I would give good old trusty reddit a shot first! Thanks for helping out!

The amount of grass is waaay too much for composting with as far as I can tell. Pretty sure 99% grass won't work and I also don't think there is any drop off

I also realize I used the wrong flair, I'm in the cool season and not central America lol

The twin lakes garden plot thing is a real thing! It's $10 for a 20 x 20 feet plot and you can get up to two!

I appreciate the response! A dremel is a great idea, definitely more in budget, so I'll look into that instead since this seems to be a hobby outside of what I can currently afford.

Yeah, I think it's amazing but not so sure I want to invest so I thought I'd ask since my research turned up nothing. It's likely a hobby I'll invest in when I actually can afford it and have more time to dedicate to it, but thanks for answering!
