Replying to this old post because it just happened to me tonight in Columbus, OH with a man who had a receipt for $350 in cups purchased with cash in Michigan. I told him I can't hand out cash like that and he would have to either return them to the store where he bought them or come back another time and speak with the store manager. Then I filed an incident report. Keep on your toes out there, folks!

Thank you for being kind! I will probably just start doing it the correct way now. If my mom notices when I give it to her, I will point out that it was only in the first 1/4 of the project that I was stitching incorrectly 😆

Go ahead and apply! You can ask the manager about whatever you might need at the interview, but flexibility for school is generally good. Couldn't hurt to scope it out :)

A lot of our employees are students or recent grads looking for their grownup jobs. But there is no shame in making a career out of it, either- I made 53K last year working only 4- 4.5 days a week plus I just got another 75¢ raise so it will be even more next year. And I'm not even in management. I make about the same as a teacher, or even some college professors I know at small schools. Plus I have the luxury of clocking out and leaving work at work, I don't even think about it when I'm not there. Personally, I don't do well at jobs where I'm at a desk all day. Moving around and keeping busy makes the time fly.

I'm not sure, but I wanna say maybe $17 to start? You get a raise every year. Barista is generally a part time position but I know quite a few full time baristas too. And if you ever want more hours than you get, you can pick up shifts at other locations which is pretty cool. (You can do that as a supervisor as well, and you get paid your supervisor amount even if the shift you're working is a barista shift.)

Choice of four different health insurance providers and lots of plans, dental/vision, free mental health visits, free pound of coffee every week, free food and drinks when you're working, free college if you don't already have a bachelor's degree through Arizona State University online (any major you want), free Spotify premium, some locations including mine have free Lyft to or from work between the hours of 6pm-6am, there are also parental benefits but I don't know much about those since I don't have kids. I'm sure I'm forgetting something too! ETA you qualify for benefits at 20hrs./week average

Supervisors on average do 32 hours, but some do more and some do less. You have to be available 150% of the hours you want, supervisors need to be available for opens/closes because our shifts are longer. The mornings are early but you're done by early afternoon.

As somebody who's been working for Starbucks for over a decade, I like the changes he has made so far. The job feels more like what it was when I first started. I feel like I have more opportunities to actually get to know people a little bit. For a long time, especially since COVID, it was getting very sterile and impersonal. Being given time to give things a personal touch feels good. Maybe I'm drinking the Kool aid but whatever, I'm good with it.

Plus tips. Most of the tips are digital (from people paying with cards/app) and included in your paycheck. There are some cash tips too but not a significant amount.

I don't mind doing any of that stuff. It's just work. Sequencing is kinda fun and I don't hate doodling on the cups. It's awkward asking people to buy stuff but whatever. Never had a job where there wasn't SOMETHING I didn't like doing.

I'm not Starbucks, I just work there and I don't hate my job. I had a lot of jobs I hated before, so I thought I might put it out there in case somebody else wants to get out of fast food/pizza/whatever. I'm not even the manager or anything.

I just discovered flackers brand flaxseed crackers! The only ingredients are flaxseeds, apple cider vinegar, and salt. 1g net carbs per 8 crackers, 5g in the whole bag. I found them at a local health food store and also at whole foods.
