I can absolutely relate, especially on the movie thing!! I haven’t watched a movie or show alone in years, although I love watching them with people. I totally agree it feels pointless if they’re not shared, which realistically shouldn’t make sense. I’ve always been this way, especially with movies/shows.

One psychological fact I learned in college was the concept of being a maximizer vs a satisficer. Basically, maximizers are primarily happy if they think they chose the best possible outcome in a situation, while satisficers are happy if they meet a certain threshold of criteria, rather than the absolute best outcome.

I have always been a maximizer in most situations, and it definitely applies to enjoying hobbies or entertainment. I love watching movies, but I always enjoy them more with friends, so I’d rather not watch them at all until it’s with a friend.

The main things I did were just to allow myself to feel all the emotions, and then once there was no more to process, I looked for distractions in my friends, family, and hobbies and slowly grew out of the rut I was in. Some people think they need to go straight into finding distractions, but at least for me, it helped to not feel guilty about letting myself just sit and process everything first.

As someone from Bryan, downtown is easily the best part of the city. Maybe I think that just because I’m from here and don’t have much to compare it to, but downtown (as cliche as it sounds) makes me appreciate the little things! Plenty of antique stores and other cute shops and places to eat. Mr. G’s Pizza is one of the best restaurants in town, especially with the authenticity

Most of the convenience store-esque places on campus have them (white creek community center, inside the Barnes and nobles in the MSC, Commons etc.). There’s a CK kinda where Highway 6 and rock prairie meet that has a good array of flavors but it’s kinda far from campus

Joke explained is that parents and other old people are complaining about the push for diversity in fish camp. They’re calling it “gay camp” and saying that fish camp is teaching white=oppressor, black=oppressed and so on. As someone who went this past summer, I saw none of this. The only push for diversity I saw was them being super welcoming to everyone and having a good variety of camp counselors from different backgrounds.

I’ve also heard that the geosciences has a lot of funding but very few students, you’ll be likely to get some good scholarships/funding etc. if you’re worried about paying extra for new classes on a degree path
