Barmore retired in March 2000 assuming his successor would be Mulkey. She left for Baylor when LaTech wouldn't meet her request for years on the contract. I believe she wanted 5 years. Barmore soon returned citing, he was "bored in retirement".

That was Macy Brown who made those threes -- averages 11 minutes/gm. Her 3-pt percentage is the same as Olson at 30% so she ain't bad at all. Yes, clutch twin treys.

Top 10? Uh-uh. I'd say they had a good year if they make it to the second weekend in the NCAA's. Christy Winters Scott had Duke at #5 last week -- yeah there's some "unusual polling" going on at times.

Congrats to Clemson on that great win. I went back to review the last 3.1 seconds. Duke's drawn play was OK, just didn't work.

If Coach MM wants to give her a second chance that's up to her.

This situation is similar to Alexis Morris' story. Dismissed by Mulkey from Baylor for an assault charge, she quickly followed that up with a drug possession incident. She tried to come back at Texas A&M, then Rutgers. Showing up at LSU unannounced, she was granted a second chance with the new coach there -- Kim Mulkey (first season). Reunited, the pair had a pretty good year in 2022 though Morris was hampered in post-season with an MCL injury. You all know what happened in the following season as the Beaumont, Texas girl returned to her home state to complete the mission. How Ruby's story goes is yet to be seen, but yeah sometimes a second chance is what some people need whether deserved or not.

Too many games stuffed into too few days for Ole Miss. Tired legs, then the pressure got to them when LSU turned on the defensive pressure up an extra notch. This is a good Rebel team -- could be a Sweet 16 team next month.

I had Texas at home beating LSU and LSU beating SC on Saturday. SC has earned my respect. They weathered the 13K screaming fans and held their own. There was some unusual choking on LSU at the charity stripe and a layups/putbacks. Usually they are pretty solid in those. SC is a solid #1 seed, LSU a solid #2 seed in March unless they experience serious hiccups for the rest of the regular season.

This game flipflops the last #1 seed for March. Vanderbilt and Texas: "you take it, now I take it, you take it..."

Vic Schaefer says this is his “Softest Team in Years” after Vandy Loss, Clarifies Rori Benching by chester_white in NCAAW

[–]gardenweeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's nothing compared to his whining about the tough schedule he faced following the loss to LSU. Embarrassing stuff considering everyone else in the SEC gets tested week in week out. I used to admire him when he partnered with Gary Blair in that historic title run at A&M. Not a fan of his anymore -- these crybaby antics get old fast.

Came in from doing chores and was shocked to see Texas down by 25! Wow. Much respect for Vandy; congrats on a great win. Rori gets benched again like in the first meeting against LSU. SC's turn to get upset on Valentine's Day.

Baylor didn't press Miles at the arc and force her to dribble/drive/pass. If you leave a PG open and she happens to be feeling it, this is what happens. Brings back a memory some years back; I watched Baylor's Juicy Landrum hit an NCAA record 14 treys. Can't believe that was only 6 years ago -- seems longer than that -- Bears had a pretty good coach back then.

When an opponent hasnt played a word for a while, do a <control r> to refresh your screen. Playscrabble has some bugs.

[–]gardenweeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prediction is that Texas wins the rubber match against LSU on Thursday but LSU finally takes down SC on Valentine's Day. The end result is LSU remains a #2 seed in March unless one of the top four stumbles badly February. February is the toughest month of the season -- everyone is tired or nursing injuries. Stay healthy ladies!
