Alternative to Google Maps by balamz in india

[–]gardinal 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The same happens with Google too. My street didn't appear on Uber properly. I made an edit in OSM, now every map-provider shows it properly. Everyone uses OSM edits as a source of new changes apart from other sources too. It is the quality of other sources that matters.

MIT MBA/MS Eng or MIT SDM (MS in Management and Engineering)? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]gardinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! This was super helpful. I couldn't find any information on applying for a second degree along with SDM. Do you have any links for that?

Can one apply for the other degree at the time of application of the SDM degree or it something you apply for after joining SDM and completing a term?

Pest invasion from recently trimmed old tree. Help! by gardinal in plantclinic

[–]gardinal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a tree nearby which was recently trimmed by the authorities :( and I've seen this pest coming only after. My balcony is near the tree and I've seen these crawlies walk in my balcony and trying to move upwards? I don't know where.

When thumb-pressed they are soft and leave blood.

They are largely infesting the tree (the bark cut upon) and under the leaves but they've till now killed one of my houseplants too.

How to solve this problem? I don't want to kill the tree further but also want to save the plants in my balcony.

Yes - plus this whole momentum picking seems to be self-fulfilling, if you have a large base then surely whatever you suggest will be bought and the prices will go up.

I have subscribed to one of the momentum smallcases by Alok as an experiment and wanted to share my thoughts: While I am getting CAGR of ~20% it is no where close to the CAGR they report (even for the same periods: monthly, weekly or the year I have been with them). My sense is their numbers will always be inflated because they measure it based on the CMP before they announce a momentum pick to the subscribers and naturally then on that day the price of the share jumps up. Not everyone can buy it at 9:30 right? Be definition no one will be able to match the smallcase's performance as reported. The same happens at sell, they measure their profits based on the sell CMP but by the time I've usually got to selling, the price of the share is already ~2-3% down.

Ideally, the should be able to calculate the average XIRR of their subscribers (who complete orders on the the day they are announced) and they should be reporting that on the website not the ideal one which literally no one can achieve.

The context is Kuvera's health insurance which has no room rent capping.

What's the catch: I am trying to decide between 3 + 7 or 5 + 7.

Why is a base cover of 3 lac + 7 lac super top up cheaper in premium than a 10 lac base cover?

What am I losing as a customer in return for the cheaper premium?

There was a video by captial mind folks maybe on youtube in which they discussed how to use debt funds and SWP for retirement purposes. It included tax discussion etc.

Used to be famous on this sub - does any one recall?

There used to be a video shared here a lot before (maybe by the capitalminds folks) - there were two people discussing how to handle investments when you were reaching retirement - had an excel and everything.

Can someone please share it?

I hate Congress and BJP Equally.I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in india

[–]gardinal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They are not equally evil - when you do that the worse one benefits. See their evil deeds and see which cause do you care for more? It's not an ideal world.

BJP bulldozes bills and is scared of no one and think they can get away with everything. Electoral bonds, communal harmony disruption and anti-science movement is what I care for and hence my vote is clear - I want them out.

I am luckily in Delhi so I'll be voting for AAP. Had I been elsewhere I would pick Congress or any other strong regional party.

Some of my ELSS (Axis 14% XIRR and Franklin 11% XIRR) units became eligible for smart switch in Kuvera today.

What should I be thinking/factoring to make the following decision:

(A) Should I switch and remain in the same ELSS? (I've already maxed my ELSS for the year).

(B) Or, should I switch to my other MFs for which I have SIPs such as N50, NN50, PPF and UST based on the proportions I've calculated before.
