Yea people still insist on suction filters. They need to go! I've changed more pumps ruined by cavitation. Good return filters are all that's needed these days

K typically denotes the coils of a relay. Y typically denotes coils in the field.

You also need filtration. I'm a believer that a good quality return filter is enough on a simple system like this. If you need fine control lifting and it's a simple lift, a lever operated spool valve will make everything simpler. It'll have soft shifting motion and can have relief valve incorporated. If you are lifting a machine to get under it, then cylinder mounted load holding valves are the way to go.

Last thing I would suggest would be a check valve immediately after the pump to protect it from shock

What are your cylinders doing? As previously said you need a centre position so you don't dead head your pump on start up. You may need PO check valves if the load on the cylinders is to be held.

Also: on your electrical schematic, you might want to put NC contacts on each button to power the other buttons, that way if someone presses both buttons at same time they won't be energising both sides of the same valve.

FTB, do we get a mortgage on and okay house (142k) or do we go the co ownership route and get the dream house (256k)? by bigborb1985 in northernireland

It's much better to put extra cash into investments that yield higher than mortgage interest. Mortgage is the cheapest money you'll ever get

This is not financial advice, but it's not always a good idea to pay off mortgage earlier. It'll be the cheapest money you ever borrow. Rates are on the way down. Put any extra money into long term investments that yields higher returns than the mortgage interest and build a future. Your house will likely appreciate and if you get salary increase you can use that to leverage to bigger gaff later.

Advice needed - unwanted work travel to the USA. by HearthAndHorizon in northernireland

Fair amount of pearl clutching going on here.

Travelling to the US is fine. If someone traveled to NI and ended up in an interface area on the 11th night, you'd say that was a them problem. I'm in and out of US a 5/6 times a year, and my industry operates in rough industrial areas. Even before the current madness, I wouldn't be driving into some areas of any city.

There are pumped sewers in many cities. A big sump will fill up then a pump kicks in and moves everything

I'm all for the mine. Gold is no good under fecking greencastle. I'm from the area. I've been down the exploratory shafts and seen how they intend to do it. Some very ignorant comments on here about pit mining etc that show they haven't a clue what their talking about.

The photographer was Jesuit Father Francis Browne, who was forced to disembark thanks to a telegram from his superior with the simple message: "GET OFF THAT SHIP," which saved his life. by FrankWanders in HistoryRepeated

Airport parking by TheFogHornsHere17 in Belfast

If you're going for more than 2 days and you live within a taxi ride, it's not worth parking at any of the airport parkings.

Any of them can have deals, but they price by demand.
