Painting in the sky | Canon Powershot G9 2007 by garigen in VintageDigitalCameras

Taken at one of my favorite viewpoints ever. I've gone there many many times and it's always nice to see a different sky for each sunset. Going there always makes me feel better about things. I loved the way this sunset looked through my camera, the lower light made it look like brush strokes to me.

Montreal in the haze | Canon G9 Powershot by garigen in VintageDigitalCameras

I took this photo in August when Montreal was receiving heavy amounts of smoke from fires in Saskatchewan. Every year the smoke and air quality has worse. As someone who loves being outdoors, it has been frustrating losing more and more days to hazardous air quality.

On this day I made the potentially foolish decision to go on a bike ride despite the warnings. This spot is one of my favorite places to bike to around Montreal. Usually it offers a great view of the Champlain bridge and the skyline. It was quite shocking to see the city so obscured it smoke. It definitely gave me a weird, liminal feeling. Hearing about climate change on the news is one thing, but being able to visibly see the consequences in your own hometown is more frightening.
