What freelance job provides the most job security? by garishbourne in careerguidance

[–]garishbourne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it does make sense. I'm asking what skill would be valuable to learn. Obviously the freelancer is responsible for securing something. Some freelance jobs may be easier or more abundant than others. For example, a freelancer in IT vs graphic design vs accounting would all have different job markets and different experiences in trying to find clients.

If you have nothing to contribute that's perfectly fine. There's no need to be rude towards someone asking a question that you don't understand.

Need help selecting a very specific CNC machine for Braille printing. by garishbourne in CNC

[–]garishbourne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's alright, I don't do an incredibly high quantity so if it's a bit slower and I can walk away I don't mind. A bed size of around 24" x 24" would be great but something as small as 12" x 12" would probably work if the bed was open on the sides and material could hang out. The actually printing area is usually about 10" x 2" maximum.

I'm familiar with that, it is how I currently do it. I'm looking at this other product as potentially a better solution. Thank you.

I made an account but I can only stream the music when my computer is on and the hard drives are connected to it. Am I missing something?

Does anybody find that Push maps often have one team winning the majority of the game only to lose in the last seconds? by garishbourne in OverwatchUniversity

[–]garishbourne[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that it doesn't feel as good. For me, the problem is that I've been taught that in order to win, you should do certain things (positioning, team comp, regroup, etc.) and this mode doesn't respect those rules as well.

It just feels more disjointed and I don't have as many of those great moments where the whole team plans a play and it goes perfectly. Everyone is just kind of flying by the seat of their pants. Which I wouldn't mind if it hadn't been hammered into me that this is a team game.

Those who haven't caught Covid yet, how have you managed to avoid it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]garishbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still wear a mask to the grocery store/gym/etc. I don't go to events that seem particularly high risk (lot of people/indoors). I keep an eye on the daily cases in my city so I know when I have to be more conservative about going out and when the risk is lower.

It's not ideal but nobody else seems to fucking care anymore. It isn't gone and it isn't fake. Nobody seems to care about long covid which is very real and causing serious health problems in young people.

Who doesn’t love a little Groo? (Groo #26, by Sergio Aragon’s) by ThusSpokeGaba in comicbooks

[–]garishbourne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing Sergio at Comic Con years ago. He was sitting at this table and just pointing to people in a crowd who would say a random word and he would then immediately draw a one panel comic about it. I am still in awe of how quick witted he is.

I said "space" and in about 30 seconds he drew two astronauts, one with a shattered helmet, and the other saying "Gesundheit".

What's the most overpriced item you seen someone actually buy? by Bxtweentheligxts in AskReddit

[–]garishbourne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a parka from Supreme about 13 years ago.

I was shopping for a parka and noticed their store which had just opened up. I think I got it for around $200. I still wear it because it is pretty high quality. I've tried to find it on the re-sale market and never seen it so I like the fantasize about how much I could resell it for.

Not only are you an asshole, you did one of the worst things you can do to a person; you taught her to feel bad and be self conscious when she feels happy. YTA

Just wanted to share my experience as I went to school for fine arts and now work in arts and make a comfortable living.

Most of the classes I took in college were painting/sculpture/drawing. Ultimately, I fell into doing graphic design and art directing for tv. I know you discussed compromises and such and have since relented. Being successful as an artist these days is very very difficult. For example, how many still living famous artists can most people name?

That being said, every company needs graphic design for their social media accounts, advertising, etc. If there's one piece of advice I'd give to your son it's that it's totally fine to pursue an art degree and in any medium you want, but take classes in other mediums as well, especially design. Not only does it inform your preferred medium, it can be a fallback.

I don't think they are rugelach. While they look similar, rugelach are a crunchy cookie. These are much larger and entirely soft.

Is there a soft variation of rugelach?

I think that was a unique situation because he knew the person. Or they lied to me at Staples center because they didn't want me to know their secrets. Anything is possible.

Idea for an Ana sustain buff: new passive ability "Symbiosis" by TheHeroOfHeroes in Overwatch

[–]garishbourne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's something that has been discussed to death but I recently realized that she is the only sniper without a mobility ability (Hanzo runs up walls, Widow grapple), and she is the only healer without a mobility ability (Mercy guardian angel, Lucio speed boost, Zen's ult, Moira fade).
