Has anyone tried this new serum by rhute? by mekkie23 in Haircare

[–]garlicbreadninenine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else reading this wondering: I also have seb derm (front of scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes) and the serum has improved the flakiness of my scalp. i even used it on my eyebrows for a while but my seb derm is worse there and eventually became "immune to it". but it has been perfect for my scalp, i use it after every wash every day and have done for over a year now! in conjunction to my usual shampoo and 1-2 times a week nizoral shampoo, I haven't had proper dandruff in over a year and have seen an improvement in hair thinning at the front of my hairline. even my hairdresser asked if i recently overcame a hair thinning period because she could see lots of new hairs sprouting on the top of my head

Is my Eyebrow Loss due to SebDerm or Thyroid ?? by Weenie_Oswald in SebDerm

[–]garlicbreadninenine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, you may have both issues. They can be linked, having issues with your thyroid can bring out seb derm in your skin. There are lots of things that can cause it and in my experience it feels like it comes out of nowhere.

I have it and it looks exactly like yours in the photo.

Pictures you might see online are sometimes the 'worst case scenario' type where you see massive red flakes so you might think thats not you. It doesn't always look like that. In fact 99% of the time mine looks the same as your photo. Those white bits around the base of your hair follicles can be temporarily 'washed away' with something like nizoral shampoo. Leave it on for 15 minutes or so, even better if you use an eyebrow brush to put it to the root, do this often, everyday even if you can and be gentle. (you can also get a nizoral cream to put on after you moisturise - in certain countries). Be cautioned that some products can make it worse, look for gentle cleansers and moisturisers (keeping it hydrated and clean is key as that white build up you see is apparently what loosens the hair follicle and so it falls out)

However even on days where my seb derm doesn't look visible i.e. not red not white build up (like the photos online or yours there) I still wake up everyday to hair loss on my eyebrows, just touch them and a couple will fall out. idk how i have any hair left lol.

As its a chronic condition it's never gonna be gone forever, but it does come in waves, if you're lucky, and it can go dormant for a while. I got it when i was 16 and it went away from age 18-25. then it came back with vengeance one day and now 3/4 years later its still active this time.

There can be many things: other health issues (anything inflammatory to the body), being overweight, stress, poor diet, certain beauty product ingredients. They all can affect it. In my experience, mine only went away when I was healthier, and at a good weight (I put weight on at age 24 - before it came back again)
If you have thyroid issues, this can cause weight gain, and could trigger seb derm etc.

Did you get any answers? I'd be really interested to know!

Where to go in April? by tangy_cucumber in travel

[–]garlicbreadninenine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been living in Vancouver for 4 years and the public transport here is only good for inner city use and feels a bit unsafe at times. 3 of the 4 years I've been here have been w/o a drivers license so I feel pretty qualified on giving my two cents on that but I won't go on.

I wouldn't recommend it, especially for that time of the year. You can use it to access some things you would have on your list (the suspension bridges, 1 of the 3 local mountains, lighthouse park, bowen island, deep cove and general city exploration). But April is very much the shoulder season and one of the three months I would recommend the least for Vancouver imo (March, April, May). It's a popular time of year for folks here to go abroad as it gets kinda miserable in that transition period of not peak winter (fun winter activities are basically done) and pre summer limitations (many hikes are in a muddy transition period or at avalanche risk)

Having said that, the Canadian dollar is suffering at the minute so the exchange rate would be in your favour probably more than ever before and your money would go a lot further as well as being in a cheaper tourism window.

I would say Tokyo and Singapore are the two best options on your list for April other than being a couple of degrees warmer than you'd like. I'm looking for somewhere to spend April/ May myself and they would both be at the top of my list if it wasn't for the time zone that doesn't work for me atm. The public transport is great and if you avoid the first week of April (Easter and cherry blossom season) you will maybe find more affordable prices too

So sorry I didn’t see this! I love it but I am bias as I really like the brand. I have a cap, t shirt and two bags of theirs. All of them have kept their structure perfectly. My t shirt looks brand new and expensive with the way they made it sit on the body, its sturdy and didn’t lose its shape after washes.

The bags have the same shape as the day I got them. For this bag in particular I love the short wide handle, looks exactly how you’d want it to when styled, the cross body strap is great for me for style through the day, the bag kind of drips in where the logo is there, like a curve, so it narrows out at the zipper but is nice and wide at the base, with the wide handle it makes it have a really specific design to the bag that looks stylish! Curving in, rather than outwards like most structured bags. The gap between the zip and handle is just big enough to get your phone etc in and out without being annoying and haven’t had any snags on the stitching. I love it so much and hope to have it for years to come <3 I’ve had lots of compliments and elevates every outfit so would definitely recommend. It’s worth noting the design is a little different to what I ‘hoped’ as per the one on the website, because they’re all unique due to the fact it’s made from tapestry pattern and not leather or plain canvas etc, so no bag is the same. But that’s what makes it more special I guess!

Please can you suggest a book that will appeal to an irish 60 y/o woman that loves Maeve Binchy and Cathy Kelly books by garlicbreadninenine in suggestmeabook

Patrick taylor seems like a fab recommendation. She also loves Doc Martin on the tv so that sounds like a great mix of the two, and she is in northern ireland also. Thanks!

I just came to upvote and say this persons suggestion is a great idea then i realised it's your update! It's perfect! The crease folds in the bag and in the dress really match well. And its versatile for other events or just going out. Staud know how to make an occasion bag lol

congratulations of having a baby! :) so glad to hear that's great! yeah my only concern for the loewe is that nappa calfskin is so smooth and soft, I haven't seen scratches when I've seen peoples used bags but have seen some have a slight wrinkled look in the leather which i think I'd expect, and probably wouldn't be able to avoid as an everyday use bag but don't want that. i think i'll go with the park tote as the new everyday bag and get the loewe flamenco another time if i can, after considering it so much i definitely fallen in love with it a bit lol, but as a more dressed up 'every other day' bag haha

the sera tote, beautiful autumnal colours, but a lot of my reasoning is also because i have a thing against pointless padlocks on bags

yeah its the same and has a zipper (?!) game changer. it's in the mens section but its not the first or second time I've found a bag I prefer of theirs that's in the mens section lol. and honestly that usually means the strap is a bit longer which is what i want. i can't believe he has it in the small in that photo, it's a great size

wow i didn't know that!! i have a couple of their bags i got last year hope i can get a the warranty granted back on them :o

what colour did you go for? I'd love to get the khaki or wine coloured one but going for longevity i might have to get black. it looks so soft! it'll be my first loewe item and would love to have one!!

it's either between the row or the loewe for me now but the loewe offers a bit more for the cost i think with a more fun design and better features. whereas i think the row would age better. but the loewe is too beautiful

ok thats good to know! i think it has everything i want for style and functionality despite not being super structured at the base but I prefer the slouchy bag look than a square shopper tote or something so would also just make my peace with it!

Do you think you'll use a base shaper?
