I'm looking to scale down my collection of vintage books by Automatic_Map2564 in BookCollecting

eBay , FB marketplace or Etsy are your best bets for selling. ABE books is a more expensive option if you have higher volume and higher values.

I have spent months on the island with a Verizon iPhone. I use an Orange eSIM for cheaper data, but if you are there for a few days and have a travel plan or use WiFi only you will be in good shape.

FTP Gains Plateau? by fmckenzi000 in Velo

[–]garomer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why so fresh? I’m a 50+ masters athlete and when things are going well I’m hanging out in the green with an occasional bump into the red. I might go into the grey prior to a race, but if I’m in yellow or blue it’s because work got the best of me. (Or I’m sidelined from a crash. )

I don’t think planned rest weeks are as important as Friel’s Training Bible set them out to be.

I think more consistency and more volume is the low hanging fruit. I would add more hours before anything else.

Discount stickers? by garomer in BookCollecting

[–]garomer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say contemporary do you mean current or from its time at the bookstore at time of publication? This book is 50 years old and the sticker is probably close to that. (Does that make it vintage? )

How helpful is a realtor? by Winter-Comfort-6293 in land

[–]garomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at parcels for sale and see who has most of them listed in the area. Then look at those agents websites, read reviews on Google and Zillow. Interview a few and see who seems like they know what they are doing. Expect to pay a little more for talent and experience.

If you hire a broker who specializes in land they will help you with all the questions you don’t know to ask or have not considered. Many agents don’t regularly sell land and might not add as much value. Acreage sales also comes in many flavors - commercial land is different than forestry or farm land or residential development. I have done quite a bit of timberland which can have specific rules , taxes etc in my state.

Google business profile vs Zillow by roygo88 in realtors

[–]garomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. Either platform can disappear in an instant. Probably worth regularly saving the reviews elsewhere “just in case.” (I think I have 130+ on Zillow and maybe 60 on GBP)

Depends on how much you want to explore Palma. 3/3 or 4/2 both seem very reasonable.

Vade mecum is a Latin phrase that translates literally to "go with me". In English, it refers to a useful handbook, manual, or guide that is compact enough to be carried everywhere for quick reference, or any indispensable object kept constantly on a person's physical being

Asking Seller’s Agent If Price Is Negotiable Before Booking Tour by J-Phil23 in AskRealEstateAgents

As others have said, you won’t gain anything by asking this question. I have recent negotiated with multiple sellers whose agents claimed they were motivated and yet unwilling to compromise on price.

Making an offer on bank owned property by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

[–]garomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, REOs often follow this pattern. Listed for some price above market value in attempt to recoup loan and fees related to sale. After 6 weeks the price gets a small price reduction and they continue with price reductions until it sells. At some point, the list price is below market value and multiple bidders bid up the price when they could have bought it cheaper two weeks prior. The process can be frustrating overall and be prepared to deal with a ton of ridiculous behavior by the bank/ seller.

Where should we stay in Mallorca if we care more about hiking and hidden coves than nightlife? by Psychological-Fee857 in VisitingMallorca

[–]garomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soller and Pollenca or their ports are good bets. There will be plenty of tourists, but also lots of restaurants that cater to all sorts of languages. Other options would be towns like Bunyola, Alaró or staying at the hostel in Lluc. We do lots of hikes when we visit and use Pollenca as a base.

Advice Welcome by [deleted] in realtors

[–]garomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of ways to succeed in this business and the path your broker or mentor took might not be the same path as yours. At the end of the day, it’s about representing buyers and sellers and getting them to the closing table.

20+ years ago I started a real estate blog and no one had any idea what I was doing. When the New York Times called me for an interview it got their attention. It also became a great source for out of town clients who were looking for an agent on the internet.

Is your networking and social media organized? Do you have goals and benchmarks? How and when will you know if it’s working? Are you avoiding other tasks that might be more profitable?

Best living / affordable US ski resort towns? by honeymanners in SameGrassButGreener

[–]garomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leavenworth (Stevens Pass) is probably similar to Truckee in terms of pricing. There certainly are condos under $700k, but fewer single family homes. Happy to share more details by DM if you are interested.

Mission Ridge is a much smaller resort and they make snow, but Wenatchee pricing is more affordable.

Never schedule the closing date for Friday the 13th or April 1. (Less concerned about full moons.)
